Big deal...Martina Nav said he'd be top 50 by the US Open this year...they are just statements

Ok but i doubt some one could be in the top 50 by playing ONE grand slam hahahaha, in twelve months time, Andy will be in a much better position as he'll have played more grnad slams

I don't know about the top 20, but I'm certain about the top 50.

Whatever they say, he has the potential to get into it soon.

Re: "Murray WILL be in the top 20 in twelve months" says......
It is quite common for the talented players to go from 100 to 15 in a year.
Roddick
Henman (a few years older)
And right now Gasquet is close to the top 10 having been around 100 at the end of last year.
Martina's prediction seemed weird even on the day it came out - the day of the Nalbandian match. Once he had lost that match there was practically no chance of it ever coming true.
At the moment Andy's game seems caught between the safety first approach that has been so successful at junior level and the more aggressive style that has won him sets against top 100 players.
Similarly, his serve looks like a work in progress - the first serve percentage is often 45% - 50% and his second serve is vulnerable.
But it is possible that improvements can be made in a short space of time.
If everything goes well I think Andy could be close to the top 20 by the end of next year.

Re: "Murray WILL be in the top 20 in twelve months" says......
Top 20 in a year is at least a mathematical possibility, now that Andy is close to getting direct entry into a lot of ATP tournaments. Martina's prediction was damn near a mathematical impossibility in 2 months, given his ranking at the time.
But I wish people would stop making these specific predictions with such precise time-frames.

It's very possible now, a good run at the AO, IW and Miami should put him into Top40

I agree. I am a pessimist - pessimists are never disappointed, only delighted when proved wrong!
