Default Davis Cup

Let's discuss Max playing for Belarus DC team here!

Quote:
World Group Play-offs line-up complete
Brazil, Peru, Japan, Korea, Great Britain, Israel, Slovak Republic and Serbia, have booked their places in Wednesday's World Group play-off draw, after winning their respective Group I second round ties .

They will be joined by the eight losers from February's World Group first round ties: Chile, Romania, Croatia, Australia, Czech Republic, Switzerland, Belarus and Austria. The draw for the eight ties will take place at 1000 GMT on Wednesday 11 April at the ITF's headquarters.

Eight nations will be seeded according to the new ITF Davis Cup Nations Rankings which will be published on Tuesday 10 April.

The World Group play-off ties will take place on 21-23 September, the same weekend as the World Group semifinals

I hope for a good play-off draw for Belarus preferably at home

I won't make any predictions right now because there are more than 6 months left before DC play-off, but some things really get me worried.

First, I had very painfull memories about the last trip of Belarussian DC team to South hemisphere. All these acclimatization troubles didn't allow Max show his best during the tie vs. Australia. Peru seems to me not better with all these altitudes and climat.
Second, Peru will choose clay. Although Max reached Master QF on clay last year and has beat Horna on clay twice I prefer to watch our Beast playing on taraphlex in Minsk
And third, the last but not the least. I see the only way for Belarus to keep WG place - Max should win both his singles, as well as doubles. Voltchkov + clay = even now, when Vova's play leaves much and much to be desired.

Well, Peru won't play in the altitude. It's not a very decent country, and they always play at the same place, in the Asia resort, that's in a beach. Altitude would only help Max.
2 points are safe for Belarus: Max against Miranda (very weak player) and the doubles point (both Peruvians can't hit a decent volley to save their lives). The next point probably won't come from Vladimir, unfortunately. He sucks big on clay and the match against Horna will be just training for the Peruvian. Max will have to dig deep and defeat Horna. Two points must be considered: Max is no clown on clay, and Horna can't return big serves, adding to the equation that Horna gets injured all the time. The other point is that September isn't hot in SA, in general. Temperatures should be decent for play.

Porto Alegre - Lima is about 4500 km apart... that's about 2 times the distance from Moscow to Paris. Everything here is far... If Belarus went to Argentina, I'd go, but Peru?

well, I have no idea what is the distance from Moscow to Lima, but only the tickets there cost about 2000 $, so no DC in Peru for me
what a stupid draw

Some DC news from kp.by

Belarussian team is preparing for the tie on clay courts of Bollettieri academy in Bradenton. They chose it to warm up because Florida and Lima are in the same time zone and also because Max studied in the Bollettieri academy and has friendly relations, so the team has all the conditions for practise

Max and Andrei Karatchenia arrived to Florida just after US Open, meanwhile Vlad Volthckov played (and won ) futures in Germany. Vlad Ignatik takes part in junior event in Kentucky and is going to join the team a little later. But as his mother told reporters, he isn't ready enough to play decisive matches at DC, because he even is not ATP player yet, but only a junior of great promise.

The team is going to start off to Lima on September, 16.

The court is situated not in highland but on 400 m altitude.

more info from Belarussian media

from interview of Belarussian team captian Dmitry Tatur:

Ignatic and Karatchenia were choosen as team #3 and #4 because of their success at junior Roland Garros. Although Max and Vova will play again leader roles in DC, depending on the situation Andrei may play doubles because of his super doubles performance @ RG

-Max results in singles are falling down worrying

-Max had a very strong psychological stress after his lost to Soderling in DC tie against Sweden when he had 2 matchballs. His US Open run gives a hope; he played perfect against Bagdatis and against Grosjean he just wasn't physical fresh enough. It was very hot in NY and very difficult him to play with all-times net advances under these weather conditions.

- And what about Voltchkov?
-Voltchkov had a very efficient training in Spain. He is in good condition after that and has already won two futures in Moscow and Germany
