Marin Congratulations on the win over Korolev

In round two is Wawrinka or Martin, Marin has played neither before. Good luck Marin

Marin lost to Stan 4-6 6-2 4-6...

Stan is not a claycourter while his never-give-up spirit shocks me again and again. at this point, at least today, Marin a bit worse than Stan while it could have been a piece of lessons to Marin which is nice also

my cute guy, dont be too disappointed at it though we knew you have had such a big lead in the decisive set. there is always some reason for you to lose in the end. just wish you all right. take a good rest then to ready for improvements. dont be too crazy-eager pls you have shown to me so much talents and ability while we still have to learn about all kinds of style from our opponents. Play is play, to gain a win is another story on court.

you can, head up confidence. always by your side

so many chances he was so disappointed, too, knew what he missed, still, played some brilliant tennis. Too bad he couldn't do it till the end

I forgot sth. During last week and his interviews, he said sth that I liked. He was asked to comment on Djokovic's statement how he'll be #1 and so on… and he said some things, can't remember everything, but I'm sure about this:

'' Why play tennis if you don't want to be the best ''

before, better ones couldnt get the wins in the end on court really frustrated me, i often cried and cried after such losses when growing up, began to know wins are complicated. Sports sometimes is just like life, full of tastes of all kinds.

from the situation Marin showed recently, his ambition and hunger rise out of water firmly. i from time to time think of him and his future. wanna know his coach and fitness expert more.

he enjoys the triple jump and the high jump, really seldom to smell among tennis players, at that time i thought this guy has his own head. of course now i have fallen in his tennis world, those things would be more special to me.

He said some days ago one of his goals is 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. what a butterfly route !!

I'm still frustrated all the time when things don't go the way they should be for my players, team, me... I need to grow up

He is different, already seems pretty mature

There's an interview with Marin on tennis portal that I mentioned once. if you want, I'll translate it later on. I think he'll try to qualify for US Open, ajmo!

it is still impossible for me to smile at those losses just have to admit it does happen or similar. when children, fast to cry to express the sadness and unbelievement while now often choose an attitude of silence, wanna hide anything? i dont know but the pain becomes much more which really hurt !!

Marin, my cute guy, really different just as you said !! he hasnt really BIG ENOUGH result so far while i have loved him just like others whom i have for many years.

you can do things as you like. i have enough patience for Marin

I obviously react different I wanna explode first few minutes(I'm really, really temperamental abt these things) or, if it's really miserable performance or the player has been completely outplayed, then I almost wanna cry and feel really...

He's only 17 (I keep telling myself that) and he's done great for his age. It's resonable to expect him to enter top 150 by the end of the year, if not, who cares? He's already done enough

something off topic first: i am thinking how to celebrate his 18th birth this September

i wish Marin to adapt himself better in ATP tournaments, to play with all kinds of players even to lose much

1st of all, keep in good health and train himself more fit !!

OMG, i ask too much already, well, God, forgive me

Intervew from last week:

Next goal is to enter Top 150

>> About match against Wawrinka and waisted opportunities

- I'm sorry about the missed opportunity. Last few weeks I've managed to win matches after losing the first set. In Gstaad I came back three times after losing the first set, also here against Koroljev. I can't say I'm master of comebacks, it simply happened against Vemić, Pavel…If nothing, I've showed to myself and to others that I can play against anyone.

>> He was supposed to play Del Porto in the quarterfinals, another upcoming talent…

- I din't even look at the draw, Del Potro told me in the locker-room that we could have played each other. We've known each other for 3-4 years, we've played a lot of tournaments together. Other players of my generation, along with Del Potro, are Koroljev, Latvian Gulbus, trained by N. Pilic and Dutch Thiamo Da Bakker, Junior US Open champion.

>> Umag is the place where he presented his new coach. After Andrej Tonejc and Alan Marić, his new coach is Boris Bulić. His brother Tvrtko was his first coach. He also has a great collaboration with Bob Brett, he's already spent around ten days on several occasions training with him.

- I talk to Brett every day. We have a good relation, he helps me when and the way he can, gives me advice in all situations. I went to him before Gstaad, and we've arranged that I'll go again in September. i'l stay for two weeks then, the plan is to prepare for the end of the season the best I can, because then I'll have chances to make good results. Other players will be tired from the long season. My next goal is to enter top 150, I have only 15 points to defentd by the end of the season. I'll try to enter into some ATP tournaments, play some challengers by the end of the season. Before that I have American tour and qualifications for US Open.

>> Goran Ivanisevic spoke highly of him from the early age, connected him to Bob Brett, he's been great support for his career. Comparisons between him and Goran have started…

- I don't want to think about it too much, I have to improve a lot of things to become a good player. Still, to see that they compare me to Goran can only be a motive for me, give me extra confidence. Semifinal in Gstaad is my best result to far, but I need to aim for more.

>> His last year's debut in Umag

- Last year I practically couldn't breathe after the first set, I wasn't fit enough. Now I can lose the first set and come back into the match. I din't have too much time to work on my fitness, but I think I have good foundations. Ljubo Antekolovic takes care about my fitness. We do everything systematically, we don't want to force anything. The proof of our good work is the lack of injuries. My body will be completely shaped when I'm 20, 21.

>> Surfaces: all courts are slower, which isn't good for players like Čilić

- It's very slow here, too. Even on grass, you don't get the feeling that it's fast. That's not good for tennis, there are no more attractive matches like before. Spectators want to see play and that doesn't suit the players because they wear out more. Even in Wimbledon, balls are slower, Federe ruse to play serve&volley, now, less than ten percent of points are those on the net. I'll have to go to the net more often in the future, but I don't see myself as serve&volley player. It's hard to play like that in these conditions.

Interview for ''Slobodna Dalmacija''

>>He moved to Zagreb at the age of 14…

- When I first came to Zagreb,I only knew my godfather there and his wife. In the beginning, that was enough, with their help I felt like home. It took me half a year to learn my way in Zagreb, my godfather used to take me to practise. I kept telling my folks at Međugorje that I was fine, but I couldn't wait to go back home every month or so. I missed my family the most.

>> Moving to zagreb was the biggest decision he had to take in his life, actually, his tennis.

- I practically started living for tennis. Even before that, when they've been saying that I'm a big talent, I din't take it for granted. Luckily, my ambitions and work have always been supported by good results. Each year I had something to lean on: European under 14 Champion, under 16 Champion, winning Roland Garros last year. Win in Paris came as a total shock for me, completely unexpected. Generation '87 was much stronger than mine, '88, but it all turned out great for me.

>> He didn't celebrate like 'crazy' when he won RG…became first Croatian to win Junior GS title.

- It probably has something to do with genes, everyone in my family is like that. Of the same kind. I think that my quiet temper brought me more good than bad. One of the examples is the fact that I have never been pushed or burdened by my parents. Even if I'd be somewhat disappointed or mad because of some loss, when I'd talk to them at home, they'd say ''Doesn't matter, relax, it will be better''. I also didn't have to worry about anything financially either.

>> Even better example of what kind of a guy he is is the fact that he can live in a place that he lives. It's in Alplan, National tennis center, it's pretty bad and it absolutely shouldn't be place where best junior in the world and one of the biggest hopes in tennis should live. But Croatian Tennis Federation couldn't find him anything better.

- I knew it was bad there, doesn't matter, I'm patient. My dad managed to contact Bandic (mayor of Zagreb), maybe something happens, some city's appartment on use. I could rent my appartement, I'll wait and see.

>> He's not rushing anywhere, accepts everything peacefully. He's still without agent, agency to represent him, ease his breakthrough into the tennis world. He's done a lot of it by himself anyway.

- I have thought about it a lot and realized that I shouldn't rush things. I still didn't get the right offer for one reason or another. Today it's different. I think I wil be represented by this Swedish guy, who's experienced, he's been working for IMG and Octagon, he works on Senoir Tour and exibition events, knows people. I have a cotract with Fila for two more years, I signed it last year before RG, I couldn't refuse it. My contract with Wilson expires at the end of next year.

>> Win over Andreev, who's been #25 at the time, has been the biggest so far.

- I was stil in two minds back then. I wasn't sure whether to continue in Juniors or turn to professional tour. I realized that they were also only humans, that I don't have to be affraid of anybody. After that, I entered all matches with more confidence. I'm aware that there are no holes in my game, I'm good at everything. I think that my opponent are surprised when they see how fast and elastic I am considering my height. I want to improve, especially in coming to the net.

>>Bob Brett

- He really means a lot to me. Other than I go to train with him very often, we talk almost every day, he's involved with anything that has to do with me. He has helped me to enter some tournaments. Sometimes he sets examples and jokes from his collaboration with Goran and Mario, to brake monotony. Unlike them, I don't get punished for cursing. It rarely happens that I swear something.
