Nico definitely is playing in Washington!!!!

From latercera.cl:

"The high temperatures in Austria were the main causes of the physical inconveniences of the viñamarino, but was ruled out that there was something more serious, for which will travel today bound for Washington.

According to his father, Manuel, "the time difference will permit to him to arrive today to the United States, for which will have enough time of rest. Besides, he is free in the first round and will debut Wednesday"".

Watching Muller play Andre - he'll be tough for Nico.

Muller is a leftie and has a nice forehand.

When his first serve goes in, watch out. But fortunately it doesn't go in much.

Muller is slow though. When Andre runs him around and gets a rally going, Andre almost always wins it.

Hoping that Muller will be tired - he looks tired out there right now and the commentators just talked about it. He's really putting everything out there for this match with Andre - hope he has nothing left for DC. And then he's going to have to take the red eye to DC tonight - jet leg, time change. Then play against Davide on Tuesday. And its going to be really really really hot in Washington this week - mid-90s F (like 40-41 C??? not sure that's right). Though the matches start late at 4:00.

Though doesn't really matter - would be nice if Nico could win, but really looking at this tournament for him to get back on the hardcourts, get the feel again, and get some good practice time in.

And hope he doesn't practice just with the other clay court players. Made me loca in US Open that he would only practice with the clay court players. He needs to practice with the hardcourt players...much better practice for playing on hardcourts...lol!

Guess he is like most of the other South Americans - they all tend to practice with each other - I suppose they just feel more comfortable that way being with their friends, and also having the common language. I am sure he'll be fine

I was thinking that about Verdasco - Nico's just faced a leftie.

Yeah, its taken Nico awhile to get to play in Washington..

At the Olympics, Nico practiced with Andy - and looked what happened...lol! I was hoping that after that he would start to do that more frequently, but everytime I saw him at the US Open last year at practice, it was with another clay court player.

But you're right...comfort level.

Same with coaches...was hoping that Nico would break away from the South American coaches but its not to be - Gaby will come back after the US Open - great coach but would be nice for him to get a different perspective for a year - someone that can help him with hardcourts.

South American coaches are the best No seriously - I can't obviously speak for Nico, but most of the South American players I know have more than just a working relationship with their coaches. They all go out together, have dinner together, spend a lot of time socialising together - so I guess it's only natural to "stick to their own" where they feel more comfortable and relaxed, which is obviously very important during big tournaments and when you spend a long time away from home and loved ones. Gaby was David's coach when he reached the Wimbledon Final in 2002 so guess he knows a fair bit about fast court play

I agree, they are great, and Gaby is one of the very best.

Just thought Nico could use a different perspective. Even though it wouldn't help him as much with hardcourts and before I found out that he was going back with Gaby, I was hoping for someone from Spain because obviously their programs have had such great results with players from all different countries.

Of course, he would have to listen to them... ...he admitted one of his biggest problems is not listening to his coaches.

Do any of them I personally don't know how these coaches do their jobs...........when their player wins then people are generally full of praise for the player and forget about the coach - but as soon as they start losing then people want to sack the coach They are the most patient people on earth in my opinion - especially the ones who work with South American players!! I have my own little Argentine coaches appreciation society..................Gaby Markus, Franco Davin, Eduardo Infantino, Hernan Gumy, Horacio de la Peña, Luis Lobo..............tennis would not be the same without them!!!
