Default Rod Laver VHS/DVD

Hi,

I know that camera's probably weren't around in his day lol.

But I would be interested to know if anyone has any on tape?

I don't know a whole lot about his game and would like to study some.

PM me or leave a message here if you could help me.

Thanks alot.

I realize you're not in the USA, but the Tennis Channel here has broadcasted a number of his matches from the 1970s this past year on their channel. Go onto their website's forum and perhaps you can work out a trade with someone who subscibes to the channel...also I'll try to PM with the email of another source.

Does anyone know if tapes exist of the Laver v Rosewall WCT finals matches from the early 70s?

During the U.S. Open ESPN CLASSIC usually broadcasts many vintage matches and one that is usually broadcast is the 1969 U.S. Open final between Laver and Tony Roche.

I have some footage of the 1969 Laver/Newcombe Wimbledon final, and have seen quite a bit of the 69 USO, and to me the Wimbledon final is much better quality of play. The 1969 USO final was actually rained out, and they had to reschedule it for monday, in front of a sparse crowd. It was still rainy and the grass was soaked, and Rod actually wore spikes because it was so slippery. Also, Roche was apparently tired by Monday, because he just didn't have any starch.

I've met Rod about 5 times, and have been lucky to have chatted with him more than once at different tennis functions. He is a prince of a man.

Check out a poster in the women's tennis forum called tennisvideos. He'll point you in the right direction for anything you're looking for.

Try here:

I have purchased many vintage tennis videos from them. They're great.

Thanks Alfa

I do have LOTS of Laver in my collection. You can send me a PM but I don't check in here too often. You can most likely get a reply if you PM me at the WTA forums as I spend more time there.
