And Senior Citizens.
I guess if you can look past enduring 3-4 months each year of hurricane weather you can enjoy the nice weather the rest of the year?

Re: Rant thread
People do have to live there. I do think perhaps maybe South Florida could do with a much less population.

Miami?
Florida will sink into the Ocean soon...so that will take care of that problem

Re: Rant thread
By 2050, the entire southern coastline (including all of Florida, and up to about Atlanta) could be underwater due to the glaciers melting.

And yet these states continue to vote for Bush, who wants to do absolutely nothing to curb global warming. Oh the irony.

It means undiomele's question was probably a joke and I answered with a joke. I love Miami, mainly because it IS full of Latinos.

Nah I was just wondering (in NO attempt to jab at Florida or something). It just always struck me as a bit silly in terms of stress and massive expenses to keep a house down there with all the hurricanes. Never understood it.
Some ppl just love, love the beach I guess.

So why do people live in Chile, Japan, Bangladesh, or even Costa Rica?
I think you are exaggerating just because there have been a couple of bad years.
And, after all, someone has to clean the hotel rooms of all the South Americans that come to shop.

Largely because they have no other place to go either because they are too territorially small (Japan, Costa Rica), poor (Bangladesh) or hardly ever struck by hurricanes (Chile).
Floridians, on the other hand, do tend to have other options in terms of where to live.
Its not an exaggeration to insinuate that bad hurricanes will continue to hit Florida with the earth's climate changing so much. You did know that hurricanes are essential in moving heat from the equatorial region toward the higher latitudes right? Well, that has everything to do with global warming. Things are bound to get worse for Florida, not better.

I was listing earthquake zones (exc. Bangladesh), where many more people are killed than by hurricanes.
There is NO evidence the earth's climate is changing. The only scary thing is that there are now so many environmentalists living off people's fears, that they may be spewing enough hot air to change the climate.
The Ice Age was not so long ago in geological time. What caused that? and what made the earth warm up again? Those natural changes were much greater than anything that is going on today, so statistically there is no evidence of global warming caused by man.
