They may be slower but they are not the same. If that was the case, Rafa would have dozens of non-clay slams to go alone with his clay slams. But he doesn't. He only has 2 W titles, 2 USO titles and 1 AO title. He has won more RG titles than non clay slams combined. This stat alone should tell you that surfaces don't really play the same, even when they are slowed down.

And don;t get me started on his early round losses at W, despite the grass being slowed down

It's pretty weak. One of the reasons for it, though, is that Nadal so completely dominated the field for so long. It leaves mental midgets in its wake. Also, as Slasher pointed out, potentially great claycourters often turned to other surfaces for a number of reasons.

nadull tards always talk about federer´s weak era , but the real tennis fans know that nadal is clay goat anyway but his era in clay is super weak.

FEDERER ALWAYS HAD AND HAS MORE COMPETITION ON HARD AND GRASS THAN NADAL ON CLAY.

NADAL´S MAIN RIVAL ON CLAY ARE 2 FAST CORT PLAYERS LIKE NOLE AND ROGER.

THAT SAYS ALL.

Well Joker is a slow court player, at least since 2011...

I was never an advocate for the whole ''weak era'' theory although I have elaborated before that there is a player of Djokovic caliber missing in Federer's generation but how freaking hilarious it is seeing Fedtards using the very excuse (clay field) they completely dismiss in different circumstances (overall field).

Do you people make sense to yourselves?

I think it's a bit crap but you could argue it's only Nadal's presence that prevents relative parity on the surface.

that's because the fedtars are so butthurt and humiliated by certain h2hs: 23-10 lifetime, 5-0 at roland garros and and 13-2 on clay, that their bitterness forces them to rationalize their beloved roger's fiasco of a rivalry against rafa as a case of rafa having merely gotten 'lucky' against a weak field of crap players..

of course, what the fedtards are too stupid too grasp is that, by virtue of saying that rafa's competition is weak as crap, they're automatically also reducing their beloved roger to the category of utter crap..

although, rafa does lead roger and the djoker collectively by a 10-0 margin at roland garros.. so maybe the fedtards have a point after all..

Grass? Dont make me laugh.. That a typical hc player like roddick reach multiple finals and thats philippousis plays first final against fed ( look philippuousis gs tally and you will know what I mean). The grass competition for fed was a joke. The last classical wimby final was in 2001, and you complain about clay.. Haha

Yes, of cause. Back in 1986 we had the strongest clay field ever; Lendl and…..that´s about it.

And guys like ferrer or even almagro of the 90's could snatch 1 RG and win other important clay titles on daily basis... Yeah too good.

Huh? Mid-80s was Wilander's time too, among others. Not a particularly strong clay era, which one would expect post-Borg I assume, but aside from Lendl and Wilander, who took most of the RG titles in the 80s, there were also some older big players still active like Vilas, Connors. I guess they were as much a part of the clay field as Federer is today.
