Default Rio de Janeiro SF: Heroic Nadal def Andujar 2-6 6-3 7-6(10)

Nadal was serving at 4-3 in the decider but couldn't pull it off before the breaker. Superb service and overheads in that breaker if nothing else.

Also the umpire and the linesmen were obliged to consult with Tio Tony about every major decision. Hilarious stuff!

Incredible, this year marks TEN straight years of winning at least one slam per year....the most difficult feat of longevity, ever.

No man has ever dominated a surface more than Nadal has dominated clay. Nadal was moving bad in the Wawrinka match at the AO, but if that match was on clay there is a good chance Nadal would have won in straight sets. Even when Nadal is 35, he'll be able to win clay titles. I bet he'll play a lot more clay events when he hits his 30s, including the post-Wimbledon clay events. Maybe skip the hardcourt events, especially if he's won 5 US Open titles by then.

Nadal sacrificing his body for a mug 500 After all that could have just given friend Andujar a shot for the title

Andujar was in control, but he took the risks and had UEs in important points

106 -108 in total points tells the story

Default Re: Rio de Janeiro SF: Heroic Nadal def Andujar 2-6 6-3 7-6(10)

Andujar was cheated by a lot of calls in that third set. Andujar just faltered at 10-10 should have stayed on what he decided rather than switching it the last minute.

Nadal was far from his best but Andujar played amazing in some parts of the game. The points at 7-8 and 8-8 were absolute GOAT. Especially the drop volley at 7-8 Too bad for the missed forehand at 7-7 and the missed dropshot at 10-10

Well done Andujar, well played
