I don't know how Nico dropped when there were no tournaments this past week but he dropped to number 31.
This makes it more imperative for him to win here in Amersfoort and get further this year - finals would be nice or win the tournament. Now I'm more disgusted that he's meeting Fena in the SFs - but the good news is that Fena has to transition from grass to clay, and he hasn't played since Wimbledon so even though Nico doesn't feel 100%, he's got to get so psyched for that match and just do it no matter how tired he feels. Can't afford to lose that match! Cuz Puerta will be tired too after playing DC and jet lag. Perfect opportunity.
Vamos NICO!!! No mercy, who cares about friendship with points on the line , and kick a*s in Amersfoort!!! Dig deep here NICO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It will be too exhausting for him to do both. Singles are far more important at this point. Preparing for DC has to take a back seat.
If I only talk to him for 5 minutes , I'd tell him to dump the doubles!!!!!
Actually I agree with you. Nico was a bit injured,no?And he is not in form right now, maybe he wants to find his form by real matches. But if he is exhausted,he can retire the doubles,I don't mind that much. What I think is ATP single match is much more important than DC and doubles and everything for they players.
