Juan Martín del Potro Cheering/Tournaments 2006
I think it's time he has his own cheering thread!
He's played for the first time against a top 100 player and he beat him! I'm talking about the Biella challenger and he already beat:
Nieminen by 6-3 6-2
Di Mauro by 6-3 5-7 6-4
Good Luck!

Re: Juan Martín del Potro Cheering Thread
He lost to Labadze by 6-2 6-4. But still, it's a great thing he made it to the QF of a challenger

Re: Juan Martín del Potro Cheering Thread
a great idea to write about him somewhere else than in "futures" forum. he doesn't have an easy draw... first Delgado - experienced and playing good at U.S. Open, then perhaps Bjorkman... don't need to introduce Bjorkman... but i believe he'll be alright

Re: Juan Martín del Potro Cheering Thread
It's amazing he's playing in the US Open quallies! I just read it in the newspapers. He's achieved so many great things, that even if he loses to Delgado, that would be fine. It's already a huge achievement to play in the quallies with just 16 years old

Re: Juan Martín del Potro Cheering Thread
He has plenty of time and this will all be valuable experience for him.

Re: Juan Martín del Potro Cheering Thread
It's a shame he lost, but he is very young - and as GWH said - he has plenty of time. It was a tremendous achievement for him to even get high enough to qualify for the "quallies" if that makes sense, and it will have been a great learning experience for him. Good Luck to him in the future. And I don't know about the Juniors, Jazz - but Andy Murray had the option to play in both the main event and the Juniors at Wimbledon this year - so I guess it would be possible.

Re: Juan Martín del Potro Cheering Thread
He could play juniors in 2006 as well, if he chose to do this and will probably stick around for the junior tournament, then go back to the Futures after this, but this should only be a learning curve for him now.
