Tie Santoro for what? Federer is many years away from tying Santoro's record of 70 total (or Ferreira's record of 56 consecutive) major tournaments played.

In 2004, Wayne Ferreira established an all-time men's record with 56 consecutive Grand Slam tournaments played.

Here are players who have not missed a Grand Slam tournament in the past 20 Slams (or better):

Player--Number--Streak Started
Roger Federer--47---2000 Australian Open
Feliciano Lopez--38--2002 Roland Garros
David Ferrer--35--2003 Australian Open
Fernando Verdasco--33--2003 Wimbledon
Tomas Berdych--32--2003 U.S. Open
Albert Montanes--30--2004 Wimbledon
Philipp Kohlschreiber--28--2004 U.S. Open
Nicolas Almagro--27--2005 Australian Open
Novak Djokovic--27--2005 Australian Open
Guillermo Garcia-Lopez--27--2005 Australian Open
Stanislas Wawrinka--26--2005 Roland Garros

Tommy Robredo--41--2001 Australian Open Streak ended RG 2011

Federer will need to play through the 2014 Australian Open to better Ferreira's record.

In 2008, Ai Sugiyama established an all-time record (among men & women) with 62 consecutive Grand Slam tournaments played.

In 2008, Fabrice Santoro established an all-time men's record for total Grand Slam tournaments played (70 as of Australian Open 2010).

Here are the (male) players with the most Grand Slam tournaments played in the Open Era:

Fabrice Santoro 70
Andre Agassi 61
Jonas Bjorkman 58
Michael Chang 57
Jimmy Connors 57
Wayne Ferreira 57
Ivan Lendl 57
Mark Woodforde 55
Stefan Edberg 54
John Alexander 53

In 2006, Amy Frazier established an all-time record (among men & women) with 71 total Grand Slam tournaments played.

Of note is that the oldest player on the list is Montanes, and the only player who is older than Federer.

Players who are currently active and still playing at a high enough level to qualify, who were there in AO 2000:

Ivan Ljubicic [30]
Michael Llodra [41]
Juan Carlos Ferrero [42]
Rainer Schuettler [131]
Arnaud Clement [157]
Lleyton Hewitt [181]
Tommy Haas [190]

There are 7 remaining. Who would have thought that it would be Ivan ranked number 2?

Crazy Ivan is now the only seed.
