The best part of the video is the narrator stating that he was the tournament's number 1 seed
Oh Burrow. Now you've done it.

This vid is such a slice of nostalgia. Even the sight of AC/DC makes me go all misty. It reminds me of that Mary Hopkin song:
"Those were the days my friend
We thought they'd never end
We'd sing and dance forever and a day
We'd live the life we choose
We'd fight and never lose
For we were young and sure to have our way ... "
"Old men"?! So long as you stop counting after 30, you'll never get old. Guaranteed.
The "new balls" are old balls now!
On second thought, the ATP should dump their "feel it" campaign and bring back the new balls - only it's new balls and old balls.
I liked the poster in 2001 or whenever called Battle of the Ages with Safin, Roddick and Gambill with the older guys; Agassi, Sampras and Rafter. Those posters actually looked good, the ones now just look horrible, I think.
Funny to think of Marat as one of those old guys now, madness.
If anyone has the time to search the web for stuff over the next few days, Google Israel is available in English as well as Hebrew: http://www.google.co.il/ But I think there's more to be found using the Hebrew version, which is how I came to find this vid.
Marat's name in Hebrew: מאראט סאפין (safin marat)
Davis Cup in Hebrew: גביע דייויס (davis cup)
this vid is great! he's looking and the fact that they asked Igor who he was made me laugh! great find, thanks!
yeah, this + how they asked him if he thinks he'll participate, that's like they thought he was just here to carry the luggage of the team or something

"Igor. Igor Andreev." He should've just said "Igor" and let them figure out the rest! Then he's asked "How do you feel to be here?" and three microphones are simultaneously shoved in his face. He doesn't even flinch.
And the bit where Marat says "we are in a peaceful sport", the camera looks him up and down.
Okay, this might sound odd, but . . . does anyone else think his spoken English is getting worse? I read somewhere that he spoke English with Daria who grew up in California. I wonder if dating Nastya, spending more time in Moscow on breaks, etc. has resulted in less English practice. I'm basing this on the clips from, for example, US Open press conferences a year or two when he rattled off jokes in English vs. this interview in Isreal and some from Roland Garros. He just seems to have to search more for the right words.
Of course, if he needs some remedial English coaching, I'm available.

I really don't know why I find this video hilarious?
Igor.Igor Andreev is funny then he gets mic's shoved in his face and he seems to have a bit of a cheesy smile after that.
I'm taking it the interviewer is from israel cause he seems to be bigging up israel quite a bit.
Being shacked up in that minibus reminds me of being 11 and playing football or playing with the basketball team at school or something.
and the camera going up and down marat
and i kept playing the part over at the start where marat says "pretty well" in a high pitched voice.
It's almost like when the reporter asks the question I know what Marat is going to answer with
"Igor. Igor Andreev." He should've just said "Igor" and let them figure out the rest! Then he's asked "How do you feel to be here?" and three microphones are simultaneously shoved in his face. He doesn't even flinch.
Thanks for finding the video! Igor seems to be used to people not knowing who he is. Poor guy.

I'm willing to bet it was a guy behind that camera.
I think any airport interview is funny. Marat always looks half-asleep and doesn't seem thrilled to do an interview, when he really wants to go back to sleep.
Two vids this time, Marat and "Igor. Igor Andreev" being a bit more forthcoming at the airport, plus one of Misha Youzhny after his first practice on the air-conditioned indoor court they keep going on about.
Burrow, another helium-fuelled squeak from Marat for you, after the TV guy says "Andy Ram told us, do you have a great relationship between the Israeli side and the Russian side? Will we see it on the court?" Er, no, we're just gonna go out there and beat the living cr*p out of each other ...
It's just his natural reaction I think, to unexpectedly stupid questions, suppressing his amazement and trying to be polite at the same time. Misha sounds like Barry White in comparison!
Tennis / Russians rusty for tie with Israel, by Eli Shvidler
More than the Israeli heat or fans, being out of shape most bothers Russia's Davis Cup team, which is preparing for its quarterfinal this weekend in Tel Aviv. "Not one of us is in shape, save for Igor - there's nothing to hide about it," admitted team member Marat Safin, who expects to win in likely his final appearance before an Israeli crowd.
