Default 2014 Indian Wells R16 and on predictions

It is prediction time! First Masters 1000 of the season, and everyone was wrong in Australia

R16:

Nadal-Monfils
Janowicz-Murray
Wawrinka-Anderson
Nishikori-Federer

Gasquet-Kohlschreiber
Dimitrov/Gulbis-Berdych, true toss up Dimitrov-Gulbis.
Pospisil-Tsonga, Delpo may lose to Lopez even.
Cilic-Djokovic

QF:

Nadal-Murray, yes we will get it here
Wawrinka-Federer, will be a good one, this
Gasquet-Berdych, Tomas has an easy draw
Tsonga-Djokovic

SF:

Berdych vs. Djokovic

F:

Federer fans laud Fed's era as having strong opponents such as Safin, Haas, Nalbandian, and Hewitt. Yet, they were constantly injured, disinterested, and borderline sociopathic
(Safin's infamous racket breaks, Haas's tendency to have conversations berating himself on live television, and Nalbandian physically assaulting line judges

Federer's peak is supposedly in 2004-2007, but his best grass match was WI 2009 final, his best hard court match was WTF 2010 final, and his best clay match was RG 2011 SF

34 year old Agassi took peak Federer to 5 sets at U.S Open but any problem cannot be found? GOAT argument
20 y.o. Djokovic straight setted prime Federer at Aus. Open but any problem cannot be found? GOAT argument

Default Re: 2014 Indian Wells R16 and on predictions

R16:

Nadal vs. Monfils - again this clown, I just hope he put a better fight than one in the Aussie.
Janowicz vs. Murray - I can see Janowicz losing to Falla in R2 though.
Wawrinka vs. Anderson - Anderson will beat Youzhny in R3, he's in better form, but he'll lose to Stan.
Chardy vs. Federer - Chardy will beat both Haas and Nishikori, but lose to Fed.

Verdasco vs. Kohli - Verdasco will beat Gasquet in R3, but the agressive Kohli will be too much for him.
Dimitrov vs. Berdych - Best draw possible for Dimitrov, pigeon Berdych in R16.
Lopez vs. Tsonga - Lopez will reach R16, but his quest ends here.
Cilic vs. Djokovic - as NID as it looks.

QF:

Nadal vs. Murray - Murray will win in 3!
Wawrinka vs. Federer - This time Stan will prevail.
Kohli vs. Dimitrov - very entertaining contest, Dimitrov should prevail.
Tsonga vs. Djokovic - Tsonga can't beat Djokovic in this slow court.

SF:

Murray vs. Wawrinka - Stan the Man will own Murray again!
Dimitrov vs. Djokovic - Another 3 set tough victory for the mental giant and TB master Grigor! Gymnast to miss some pee wee volleys as usual!

F:

Dimitrov def Wawrinka - the kind of match we all should watch in suits! TB master in 3 again!

I'm no Fakervic fan but he needs to save tennis, sadly tree trunk legs will be fresh. Interesting he's never questioned...

R16:

Nadal-Fognini
Raonic-Murray
Wawrinka-Anderson
Nishikori-Federer

Verdasco-Isner
Dimitrov-Berdych
Pospisil-Tsonga
Cilic-Djokovic

QF:

Nadal-Murray
Wawrinka-Federer
Dimitrov-Isner
Tsonga-Djokovic (I do think Tsonga will get this far thanks to the draw, but I expect his current form to be exposed in a beatdown similar to what he endured here against Djokovic last year.)

SF:

Murray-Federer
Dimitrov-Djokovic

F:

Federer def. Djokovic

Final rounds conflict a bit with my odds for who would win in the WWW thread. That comes down to me picking a few players to get through toss-up rounds here and causing problems for players who I consider better bets earlier in the tournament.

Out of curiosity, why do so many think Murray is gonna beat Nadal? The guy's played two utterly unconvincing tournaments.

Can´t wait to see this match, people should record this and show to kids how you should make a volley, Novak is a legend on his own, but Grigor againsts Gulbis last week in Acapulco showed some real skills too.

Nadal was solid enough for most of Rio, but his Andujar match was worrying and he was rather cynical against Dolgo. I also don't think he'll be too broken up about going out a bit early here and being able to make up the points and maybe more in Miami. I might have picked Nadal to at least final here if he had held off on committing to Miami.

As for Murray, I didn't watch any of Acapulco but from what I've read on here he came up against a very good Dimitrov and almost got through. Also expect him to be much hungrier than Nadal in a potential meeting here.

Default Re: 2014 Indian Wells R16 and on predictions

I'll try my hand at this... Won't go with safe picks, so I expect to fail spectacularly.

R16:

Nadal-Monfils
Janowicz-Murray
Wawrinka-Hewitt
Nishikori-Federer

Kohlschreiber-Isner (lol at this again)
Gulbis-Berdych (hope Berdych is down after his loss to Fed)
Del Potro-Tsonga, hopefully Delpo is feeling good and not playing this out of stubborness (yes, yes I know...)
Cilic-Djokovic

QF:

Nadal-Janowicz Jerzy to annoy people hoping for Nadarray (and why would anyone want that?)
Wawrinka-Federer, (could go either way. I really don't know which way to go)
USner-Gulbis (hilarity ensues)
Del Potro-Djokovic

SF:

Nadal vs. Wawrinka,
Gulbis vs. Djokovic

F:

Djokovic def. Nadal and lots of people to, hopefully, eat humble pie.

Many interesting matchups in the horizon
