That's what impresses me. He puts in so much work on a surface that he doesn't really like. Still makes 2 semis. Also, he'll win against Berdych or Soda, I'm pretty sure if they meet at RG. Both of them play a more hard-court style on clay with more flat groundies. In fact, Murray tops it better than those two, and constructs points better as well. Clay helps tacticians better than ballbashers.

Yeah although he still has problems closing out tight matches. He's been amazing this clay season. Hoping for a good RG here.

He still isn't taken seriously on clay. It doesn't matter as it helped him with this game on other surfaces.

he for some reason struggles on clay sometimes i dunno why, he loved clay, he trains their before alot of times, but for some reason he jus doesnt get clay that much at all, i thought he'll be better that djokovic tbh, but i forgot that nole did train on clay in serbia too, but still it doesnt make sense that hes not doing well on clay

Can't live off one performance, apart from Roddick all the premier fast court players had some good results on clay Federer, Stich, Edberg, Noah, Rafter, even Becker had plenty of finals and SF.

Eggman needed a Murray choke to secure victory in Rome.

Rome.

In Monte Carlo Murray lost to Nadal in the third set.

This year was a great year for Murray on Clay. He lost only to 3 Great Players on Clay: Djokovic, Nadal and Bellucci.

Different economic conditions help as well as the cyclical nature of sport.
i wasnt trying to get off topic, if i was than sry, but its jus kinda odd to me, im jus wandering really thats all

It's funny to realize that Bellucci almost won of Djokovic to get Masters Singles Final. And now he will play the Challenger Finals with a Wild Card.

Default Re: Andy Murray on clay

I suppose reaching the semi-final's at the 3 most prestigious clay court events; Monte Carlo, Rome and the French Open in the same year proves the point. And in Rome he came close to beating Djokovic and when he took Nadal to a 3rd set after winning the second set 6-2 in Monte Carlo a Nadal defeat in Monte Carlo for a moment looked feasible.

In 2011 Murray was probably the 5th best clay court player behind Nadal, Djokovic, Federer and Ferrer. Possibly could even argue 4th best.
