Total number of likes is not a good parameter of popularity. Those likes can be bought. In fact all stars hire marketing teams to pump up their social media profiles. The better way to measure popularity via social networks is to look at post activity and total reach. When I'm home I will try to analyze their fb and tw profiles and see what we will get. Though I think one such analysis was already done a few years ago.

The original question has been debated over and over and recently as well.

Novak beat Nadal in slams 1 out of the last 5 times, and overall 4 out of 13 times. Djokovic is lucky that Nadal is coming back from injury and surgery. He's vulturing some slam wins but soon Rafa will find his form back and he will rule again.

It's pretty obvious. Federer and Nadal became major title winners first, and they are still around. There are only so many people interested in tennis, and no-one who supports Federer or Nadal is going to migrate to Djokovic.

This. Also the rivalry Federer-Nadal helped them a lot, well, helped Nadal, Federer would always be a mega-star regardless and was before Nadal appeared.

Because Fed and Nadal scored a large chunk of tennis fans initially. Nole just competed with them and took some of their slams but he didn't exactly turn the sport inside out. Plus his game is boring so that doesn't help his popularity.

No one cares about "likes", crowds and overall opinion. The only thing that matters is legacy.

Nadal and Federer have been around lot longer so understandably their fans would be huge. It's more tricky to find fans that emerge from the space of their predecessors for 'loyalty' reasons. But not all fans are vocal on twitter/facebook.
