I have been so busy lately that I didn't even realise the French Open was going on until today. Saw the last set; Seb was gorgeous. A little nervous perhaps towards the end, but I forgive him. Was that Tom in the audience? He's very cute

Yes I saw !!! Tom with the ball in the hands...he's adorable !!!!! Lola too ! I saw her in the locker room after the match ...his children are as cute as their father. And I admit Marie Pierre looks nice.

I see his mother is very busy to look after him, because he doesn't stop to climb everywhere, it was the case wednesday so today in 5 sets, poor child ! LOL

I love when Nelson says about Stepaniek he's a good player cos he's one of the rare players who won a set against nadal on clay, which is almost an exploit etc... then Seb laughing "merci !" meaning he'll have to play nadal on next round ! lol

Sébastien Grosjean (n°30) va retrouver la saveur d'un huitième de finale à Roland-Garros. Eliminé au deuxième tour lors des deux dernières éditions, le n°1 français, porté par le public du court Suzanne-Lenglen, a eu raison de Radek Stepanek (n°16), 6/1, 4/6, 3/6, 6/3, 6/4 en 3h51. Le n°1 français devra désormais en découdre avec l'impressionnant Rafael Nadal.

Sébastien Grosjean s'est offert deux jolis cadeaux ce vendredi à Roland-Garros. Primo, une vibrante ovation finale d'un public tout acquis à sa cause et qui n'a pas lésiné, presque quatre heures durant, dans les démonstrations de soutien. Secundo, le jour de son 27e anniversaire, il aura droit à une opposition sur le "Central" avec le favori du tournoi, Rafel Nadal. Un adversaire de renom dans une arène où il a écrit quelques belles pages de sa carrière. Comme en 2001 (demi-finale, victoire face à Agassi en quart) et 2002 (quart de finale). Depuis, le Marseillais nourrissait la fâcheuse tendance à repartir de la Porte d'Auteuil la tête basse.

L'issue de ce match du troisième tour aurait pu être beaucoup moins douce pour Sébastien Grosjean. Car Radek Stepanek, entraîné à mi-temps par l'ancien finaliste du tournoi, Petr Korda, a confirmé que l'air parisien l'inspire. Après avoir développé un tennis indigne de son statut au cours de la première demi-heure (6/1 pour Grosjean), le finaliste du dernier BNP Paribas Masters conquiert les deux sets suivants avec autorité, en développant un joli tennis d'attaque sur terre battue (98 montées au filet au total, pour 63 points). Le Tchèque aux faux airs d'Ivan Lendl n'a jamais passé un troisième tour en Grand Chelem. Mais il y croit, il serre le poing, hurle sa rage. Et se met le public à dos. Il n'en a cure.

"Seb" enflamme l'arène

Dos au mur, Grosjean scrute son coach Brad Stine du regard. Finaliste à Houston, le Français a refait le plein de confiance après une fin d'année 2004 manquée et un début de saison 2005 perturbé par une blessure à la cuisse gauche. Mais la terre parisienne ne lui réussit guère depuis deux ans. Le doute est chassé dès le deuxième jeu de la quatrième manche. Le n°1 français fait le break. Il conserve le précieux pécule jusqu'au bout: 6/3. Cinquième set !

Sur sa quatrième balle de break, "Seb" prend l'avantage 3-2 dans un court Suzanne-Lenglen devenu tel une arène de corrida. Stepanek provoque encore le public. Les sifflets grondent. Finaliste à Milan et demi-finaliste à Barcelone, le Tchèque, bien que plus à l'aise sur surfaces rapides, a le mental solide, comme l'acier produit dans sa ville natale de Karvina. Il s'offre un "débreak". Grosjean ajuste ses retours et lui répond du tac au tac: 5-3.

Le Marseillais a le mérite de mieux jouer les points importants. Mais la fin est difficile. "Seb" doit attendre sa quatrième balle de match pour s'imposer, sur un service gagnant. L'ambiance est à la fête, la victoire est belle. "C'est bien de gagner comme ça, à la bagarre, à l'envie, sans développer son meilleur tennis", jubilera le n°1 français. Dimanche, c'est le surdoué de Marjorque, Rafael Nadal, qu'il faudra dompter. Une toute autre histoire mais qu'importe, Grosjean est de retour au plus haut niveau, et c'est déjà une bonne nouvelle…

There was TV coverage for the last half of the 5th set

Saw his little boy on TV and the poor thing looked completely restless. I think he's only 2 or 3 so perfectly understandable. Looks alot like his Dad

I can't believe that Seb has to play Rafa next but...ALLEZ SEB!!!!
