From Interlaken's above post.

http://hd.se/sporten/2006/07/12/kaer...rde_peter_till

This was written during the Swedish Open, but here is the translation.

Love took him to Helsingborg

The same as Ervin Eleskovic and Filip Prpic, Peter Luczak lost in the deciding set of the first round in the Swedish Open. Thus there are no Helsingborgers left in the tournament.

Name: Peter Luczak
Born: 31 august 1979
Profession: Tennis Player
Family: Wife Katarina and 5 week old son Sebastian. ( now a few months old)
Residence: Flat in central Helsingborg, a serve away from Knutpunkten.
World Ranking: 154
Merits: Was ranked 2 number in Australia and debuted in live matches against Switzerland in Davis Cup and is 1-1 in matches. He has played in 4 Grand Slam tournaments.

Tennis Peter Luczak and Helsingborg?
Yes, so here it is. Australia's second best tennis player lives in central Helsinborg since last spring. It was love that lead him there and now Helsingborg is his base for 9 months of the year. " A wonderful city. Beautiful and just big enough" says Peter.

His wife Katarina and she is there of course with 5 week old son Sebastian. He spends time in the pram while mother and father take a walk in the the pastoral Båstad environment. The pair met at a tournament in Munich in April last spring where Katarina was there working in the players lounge and the meeting resulted in Helsingborg being endowed with a player of international class.

"I hope I can be among the top 100", says Peter who is now ranked 154th.
In the spring and early summer he has trained mostly with Filip Prpic at the Påsjö court or in Ramlösa with Ervin Eleskovic, Calle Bergman and Jonas Berg have sparred. And on the way to Mörarp to visit his mother and sister in law.

However Helsingborg TK can not count on some big reinforecements for the top division league tennis in November and December. Peter says "We will live in Melbourne between November and January. The climate and preparation for the Australian Open are more suitable."

The Helsingborg newcomer qualified for the Swedish Open with wins against Daniel Kumlin and Pablo Figueroa. Since then Peter also in the last round he won against the competent claycourt specialist from Spain Oscar Hernandez.
"It's the first time I have visited Båstad. I had heard a lot of good things about the tournament and had high expectations, but they have surpassed. Everything is perfect here.

His debut in the Swedish Open happened yesterday when Peter met Agustin Calleri 54th in the world and one of the many skillful claycourt players from Argentina. Luczak surprisingly took the first set 6-3, but was chanceless losing 6-1 6-2.

"Calleri played better and better and deserved the win", commented Luczak.

On Friday he was on the way to Stuttgart and then tournaments in Kitzbühel and the Polish town Sopot, then off to the other side in Atlanta. Then he will attempt to qualify for US Open which he did in 2005. At the Australian Open for three consecutive years he has got a wildcard and this year he made the third round. It indicates that there is a very skillful tennis player who has based themselves in Sweden.

A high point in the autumn of course is also the Davis Cup semi final against Argentina in Buenos Aires. The ranking shows that the Helsingborg newcomer is a natural for the Australian team (too bad he missed out).

"Davis Cup is huge in Australia. But it is of course among the toughest matches to play on clay in Argentina". says Peter

Does anyone know what will be the next tournament Peter plays?

Except for his run at the Australian open earlier this year, he hasn't done much

Peter is back in Australia now and is playing the Caloundra Challenger which is a 25k event and he won in 2005, though it will be harder for him this time around.

He won his 1st round match against Groth in straight sets 6-2 6-4 and now plays Baccanello in the 2nd round.

Peter won his 2nd round match in 3 sets 6-4 6-7(10) 6-3 and now plays Swede Brunström who defeated the Gooch and it's a good chance to defend his title here.

Not a problem at all. He is a good guy and it was fun to translate the article and just hope he wins the final of the Challenger.
