Is Taylor Dent STILL injured?
I don't think I've ever seen him not injured or not sick for two straight matches.
Good luck to him.

I thought Hewitt was a sure bet to pull out due to his rib injury,
but it looks like he is hanging onto a shred of hope that
somehow he just might be able to participate.
That is crazy.
With cracked ribs??!!
If he comes to RG miraculously feeling healthy, then great.
But if he withdraws after the draw is announced, that spot will be
filled by a lucky loser, and the rest of the seeds won't change. Right?

Leigh, just in case,
you'd better confront THREE players.
Two might not be enough.

As I remember it, the next player to be seeded will take Hewitt's place in the draw and a lucky loser will take the place of that player. But since everyone on this board is hoping Hewitt will pull out before the draw is made, I might be wrong.

Oh, alright. Different than I thought.
I hope you are right.

I don't want to wish anything bad on Hewitt, but if he is going to withdraw, I hope he does it before the draw is made, so there is no confusion whatsoever.
But for JC to be seeded, he needs one more player to pull out.
Why did that stupid Richard Gasquet have to make the Hamburg final and leapfrog 24 spots ahead of JC this week?
Nothing personal against Gasquet.
It could've been "stupid ANYONE."

Then you also can say why did that stupid Chela had beaten Henman and made just one more victory than JC's done but ahead of JC 1 rankings.....
That's fate,it's unfair...
What makes me angry is just one match away from being a seed

He might get a better draw unseeded. If he draws, lets say, Joachim Johansosn in the first round, that's better than meeting Nadal in the 3rd round.

Not a bad choice - but it can work the other way too. Roddick would feel that Juanqui is not in his best form and play a notch higher than what he would rather Juanqui would feel very confident abt Andy's record on clay.

I hear you.
The reason I picked on Gasquet is that he unexpectedly came out of nowhere to be ranked ahead of JC this week whereas Chela or others had been treading the same water as JC for some weeks.

Okay, Juan Carlos should have performed better. There is no one else to blame. If he doesn't get the seed, I hope he at least catches a break with an easy draw.
