Brief interview in French. He says he feel "not bad" after his win of the Open de la Baie de Somme, but that he was better in Rome tennis-wise. Otherwise the usual blabla, happy to be back in Metz, having to be patient, etc.

Thanks for the info.

True he and his fans do need to be patient but how long are we gonna hear that line from him? It's too bad that he feels the need to keep explaining why he isn't playing as he was at the beginning of the year. I hate to say this but it wasn't like he was out for a year. It was not quite 3 months and he wasn't even injuried. well I take that back, he WAS injured. It was psychologically and for him I guess that is far worse than 6 months out with a physical injury.

ANyway Richie, just get out there and play like you are glad to be back! do the best you can do and no need to explain -it's going to come together. The Press can just bug off and your fans are behind you as long as it takes. Allez Richie!

Hmm, I think you may have a point, I wonder if people around him are telling him to get a grip or indulging him? Maybe he will remain in a delicate state of mind until December? Us fans don't exepct too much of him, we are just glad he is back but I want to see him enjoy being back on court and hopefully he will enjoy playing at home.

Hi all Richard fans

May I ask about that ITF appeal, when's it going to end? is there a deadline that they will wrap that up, a court day of some sort? This whole ordeal is so annoying, wish that it will end soon.

So He might take a foreign coach next year... I do not have the time to translate but maybe later

Pendant ce temps-là, Gasquet…
Rue (Somme)
A l’évidence,

 Richard Gasquet. Ça va pas
mal. Tennistiquement, je me sens
bien.
Il me l’a
conseillé et c’est une bonne idée. Là,
c’était trop prématuré après un choc
comme ça. Je voulais repartir avec
Eric (Deblicker), un peu en famille.
Ressentez-vous comme une
épée de Damoclès la
procédure d’appel de
l’Agence mondiale antidopage
et de la Fédération
internationale ?
Non, la vérité est là. Je ne suis pas
perturbé. Vraiment pas.

There is something to be said for "tough love" sometimes. I really don't expect he could have his mind clear enough to concentrate at the level necessary to be really competitive until the appeal is over in December. But that doesn't mean he has to feel sorry for himself until then and keep reminding himself and others - shit happens (as we so eloquentely say in the US) but you scoop it up and move on - guess he can't really scoop it up yet because he's still waiting to see if more happens...

Just translating the important part:

Did you decline a plan proposed by Noah?

Not at all. There was no plan. I have listened to everything Yannick told me. Perhaps I will take a foreign coach next year. He advised me so and it was a good idea. For the moment, it was too premature after a shock like that. I wanted to restart with Eric, a bit of family.

This is classical American in the best sense. I am afraid Richard is not capable of such an approach. I feel he will continue talking like he does until he achieves something really big. And in a way it will tell a lot about his ambitions. I never bought that theory of him not wanting to have success. Quite the contrary, he wanted it too much. It might just be that now, after this ordeal, that he fully understood what it takes to get there.

And all this talk enjoying to play (though it gets boring) is exactly what he needs. Look at his career in the past. He only played well, when he "felt" well.

Depending on who he gets as a foreign coach, I see it as a good move essentially. It could help to gain perspective from an 'outsider' so to speak, and that might help his game. That said, I still wish Fabrice would retire and coach Richard

He's looking for a foreign coach who speaks French, according to L'Equipe.
L'Equipe mentions Brad Stein, former coach of Courier and Grosjean. But it's just one possibility.

The media first said it would take about 4 months, I think, but I'm not sure it means much, I've followed other appeals and the CAS doesn't always observe the deadlines.

I remember that Montcourt appealed at the beginning of August 2008 and the decision was expected until the end of 2008. Then the CAS told him February 2009. Etc. He got the decision in May 2009 in the end.
Of course Richard's case is different and bigger, tons of people will probably try to rush things. But it's also more complex.
Anyway, I don't think the deadlines mentioned by the CAS are firm like the deadlines during the first part of the procedure, when it's all written in the rulesbook.

Do you know anyone else? I am not aware of coaches' languages skills. But it seeems as if my Fabrice-theory is collapsing.

No, I have no idea either. I didn't even know that Brad Stein was speaking French, I thought they were talking English with Seb since Seb lives in Florida.

Edit: Courier himself, he speaks French! Doesn't he want to become a coach?
A lot of former players speak French, it could be an option too. Bruguera. Or Tarango.

Courier's personality would probably match very well with Richie. Tarango - OMG.

Will be interesting to see who he comes up with and as I suspected, Eric is temporary just to help him get back on track with someone he feels comfortable.

Thanks for the info Puschkin and Truc.

And there isn't a better game on the tour when he "feels it". Just too bad his head hasn't yet been able to feel it as well. As you say maybe this ordeal, when finally over will help him "feel it" physically and mentally.

Interview after his win against Berrer In French.

Sigh, his interviews are really hopeless. Always the same stuff about being happy to be back, needing match practice and more time and that the match was tough. Well, I guess we'll have to accept him as he is.
