Frederico had a very tough victory over Alberto Martin in Casablanca. He was a game away from the loss when Martin served for the match, but managed to stay in it and finally prevailed. Good start of the European (and Moroccan) clay court season so hopefully he will keep it up!

He plays Ljubicic next, which is winnable as the Croat has been shaky recently and also had a very tough first round match.

Frederico showed great fighting spirit and good defensive skills against the powerful Ljubicic from what I saw in the first part of the match. He served for the first set, but got broken and that made things complicated for him. The match was long, but I don't think it went to 4:52 hours as the lvescore has it - in fact it was 2:52 hours and that included a long toilet break for Gil

However, good luck to Gil against Montanes. The Spaniard was too shaky in his match with Ventura today and got lucky his opponent got tired and nervous. Frederico can take him after a day of rest!
