Default Russia VS France

Do you think France could win ?
It won't be on clay, and if Marat Safin plays well, I'm not sure that the French could won this QF.

Let's wait and see what happens... You said it yourself, IF Marat plays well. That says it all. But there are other factors to take into account. As where it's gonna take place for example...I have no pronostics. But I hope that our Frechies will play the best they can and give the best they have in store! If they do that, even if they lose, I'll be satisfied!

The tie will be played on clay with Roland Garros balls

Quote:

I don't know if Paulo can handle playing Youzhny again. But based on current form, the captain will probably yield Safin and Davydenko.

I think that he'll actually take it as a good opportunity for revenge and showing he has progressed so Paulo would love playing against Youzny... But you're right Youzny might not even play so...
Do you think that Richard Gasquet could make it into the French Davis cup team?

Just saw your message. There's a good chance Richard will make the Davis Cup team, but he probably won't be playing (like Monfils against Sweden). For him to play, Forget would have to replace either Grosjean or Paulo, his #1 player or the player who has won the team some crucial matches.

Maybe at that time he will be the #1 player! But if the situation stays the same you're right it's unlikely that he'll get the chance to play...But i think he'll be in the team too...

Guy Forget said that if he had to take his decision right now ( it was during the third round of Roland Garros), Gasquet would be part of the team, but he didn"t say if he would make him play or just ask him to be the fifth player.

However, things are going to be very difficult for the French, because even though it will be on clay (on which Mathieu and Gasquet can play very well), Davydenko is showing that he can play good on clay, with his semifinal in Roland Garros.

Enfin, bonne chance aux français !!!!

It is shaping up as an extremely interesting match, it seems. Gasquet could be the France best hope, I just question his best-of-five pedigree a little bit at this point..

Yes that's the major question about him. Actually that could play against him for a potential selection because can Guy Forget risk to select him if he's never won a best-of-five sets match ever before? (But Monfils hadn't and he was still selected so who knows?...)
He's still got Wimbledon to proove himself although it's not on clay. So we'll see...
