GGL blew the first set by doublefaulting twice (once with a conspicious foot fault) when serving for it where he was very solid in his service games before that. Pella then took control of the tiebreak, only to see GGL playing very well and saving three SPs to get back level at 6-6, but two great points by the Argentinian decided the first set in his favor.
Second set saw some very good rallies and exciting games, most of them going to deuce and both players had to save breakpoints on multiple occasions. Overall this was a very good clay match with both players striking the ball hard with a lot of precision. GGL saved a couple of match points and failed to convert some BPs when Pella served for it, and it almost looked like he was up for another comeback. Close, but no cigar.
