Default Your most important factors when backing a player?

I thought it would be interesting to see the general view on what factors people consider most important when placing a bet on an outright match.

This is a private poll - Select 3 choices ONLY.

If you have other factors feel free to post them.

Well first of all it's the surface ability and how well a player performs on that surface, if both have similar results on that surface i definetly watch the h2h and form. Both are important factors. I also think the h2h is underrated a bit as there are many examples of players who just can't win against particular opponents and definetly should be a factor which should be taken into consideration when backing a player

Also the player history is definetly important. There are some players which i simply can't back them. Ever. Or i back them just when they're underdogs for the value price. Some examples: Dolgopolov, Montanes, Golubev, Malisse or Capdeville

If i have to choose 3, i'll go with surface ability, h2h and form

Picked form, schedule, player history.
Schedule because sometimes player has to play doubles right after his singles match, if that players singles match on clay lasts over 3h its for sure he will not be able to give his all in the doubles match.
Player history is important because some players have history of not caring about certain tournaments, for example nadal tanking grass tournaments before wimbledon.

1) Form - No brainer.

2) Schedule - Need to take into account long lay offs , burnout (continually going deep in tournies/backing up the next week after a final), surface changes, travel with big time zone jumps etc.

3) Class - Rankings can be deceiving but there is a class element you need to take into account. Sort of your own ranking groups filtering out all the guys on a heater and that are overranked as well as factoring in guys that are ranked lower than they should be. ie someone like Hewitt is ranked 60th but on class you would group him with guys ranked 10-30, then on the other side of the coin Matosevic is ranked 50th but there would be little class difference between him and some of the guys outside the top 100.

If there is a differential in the H2H, particularly when it's hard to work out why, I use that to filter out a bet rather than to make one.

Player history is a reasonable one. Some guys just play well in certain zones. You've got the early season peaker that's always up for the first few tournies of the year, some European clay courters are no good in South America and vice versa, some guys play a lot better on US hardcourts than European ones.

I picked form, player history and H2H. Rankings are strongly reflected in the odds offered so I don't consider them separately.
