just checked his results from last year
he has 0 points to defend till mid july (where he had 2nd round in Amersfoort) and after that again 0 points to defend till end of August 
top 100 has never looked so near

Indeed. The reasons are he was finishing school in the summer last year (exams etc.) and so he didnt play so much. Obviously he is gaining experience too and playing better each match.

Yes Fognini is in a good moment of his career... a slight breakthrough for him particularly on the challenger circuit... if he continues he will be top 100 in no time.

Fabio is against Luczak in the final. He will be at 166 in the rankings even if he loses, but will go up of course if he wins. 166 will be his best ever ranking.

Fognini lost the final in 3 but another good week for him and next in Bytom. Hopefully he goes one better, although he might be a bit tired.

It also has better players. I think Fabio feels he can get to SF or further in Bytom, maybe not so in Lugano.
