Default on all the fuss about coria gaudio

i dont think any of those guys have enough firepower of safin federer ....if safin and federer can be really consistent dont think those guys will have a chance....the only reason they are so good in clay is cause those guys are consistent and its damn hard to hit winners on clay.....

yes, you are right. Coria and Gaudio have no firepower... if Safin and Roger are consistent they don't have a chance...

oh wait, something else, Federer and Safin don't have the firepower of Fernando Gonzalez, so if the Chilean is consistent he will win all the slams...

Gonzalez #1

PS: FIREPOWER IS NOT EVERYTHING...

I don't think Safin will ever be consistend

I don't like Coria, he's too defensive, he relays on his speed to much;
Gaston on the other hand is very talented, a pleasure to watch.

Yes, they are quick and consistent, what a shame! Instead of just standing back and watching all those glorious winners wizzle by, those little squirts run everything down and spin the ball in and - imagine that - even hit winners of their own.

How dare they??!

Consistency is what wins on clay. If Federer or Safin are really on though, my money would be on them to beat either Coria or Gaudio on clay. The %'s say go with Coria or Gaudio though.

Kuerten, Ferrero and Moya don't play just passing the ball consistently and waiting the other to miss, neither does Gaudio...

Consistency is important, but is not enough to win big tournaments on clay...

Relying on your speed requires talent. Your speed is no good to you if you don't know how to use it. Coria has beautiful footwork on clay, which is part of why he's so successful on it. I'm not demanding that you admire this, but he's every bit as talented as Gaudio, imo.

You tried to read between the lines of my post. I am not talking about consistency as in a guy who will just get balls back. I am talking about someone who can be patient and go for their shots when they are available and do this consistently for 6 or 7 matches. Clay tennis doesn't produce as many highs and lows like the faster surfaces. Of course Guga and Gaudio can attack.

Coria is talented even if he can't play aggresive. His drop shots are top class and he can do many nice things with the ball (great angles for example). I don't like his attitude, but he obviously is very talented. I think Hewitt is an example of a player less talented doing his absolutely best with his technical limitations.

if it's hard for safin and federer to hit winners on clay wouldn't the same go for gaudio and coria? The court doesn't change and gaudio/coria is simply more consistent and moves better on the surface.

it's pointless pondering the 'what ifs', b/c it would just be endless...

2004 Roland Garros Final not enough highs and lows. No sarcasm required actually have you watched much claycourt tennis? Edited highlights from the French Open doesn't count.
