I thought of Gershwin, too. He was 39, but in terms of his involvement in "classical" forms, still getting started in many ways. What a shame.

Re: Who is your favourite passed-away-too-early musician
How can you include Tupac on the poll without Biggie?
I don't really care for rap but Tupac brought it on every song. He wasn't afraid to speak his mind and spoke the truth like nobody else.
Cobain (voice that shaped grunge)
Hendrix (man, what sounds from that six-string)
Aaliyah (So sad, had a movie lined up and everything... )
I still say Courtney had something to do with Kurt's death..

Only 10 poll options allowed, mate.
And IMHO Tupac's death was a bigger shock as he was the more known of the two, and his music was, and still is, a lot more influential.

What about the rumours he's still alive?? It would explain how he keeps on releasing new material, even several years after his death! I think it's rather macaber!

If Tupac Shakur were still alive, he would be dead by now!

And I say you should make your own poll if you think the leader of an obscure late-seventies new wave band can compete with the likes of Hendrix, Morrison and Cobain!
Oops, I lost a couple of lives now, haven't I? And the chances of me staying over tonight have probably vanished as well!
