Default Classic rallies

After the amazing Fed-Hewitt rally last week I was wondering which other great rallies there have been. Anyone got any memories of some classics?

Liverpool FC need to return to the good old days when the players were born and bred locally. Dalglish, Keegan, McDermott, Kennedy, Lawrenson, Hansen, Grobelaar, Toshack, Molby ........ or were they just the Chelsea of the 70's buying the best talent available in the market?

Sampras vs Agassi 1995 US Open final- 5-4 Agassi serving, Advantage Sampras- set point.

They start rallying, Agassi hitting ferocious inside out forehands into Pete's backhand. Pete defends well, returning them and both players start to run each other side to side with crosscourt forehands. Sampras hits an angled forehand wide to Agassi's forehand which Agassi can retrieve only to hit it into Sampras' hitting zone leaving the whole left court open. Sampras hits a backhand crosscourt winner that Agassi could not touch: game, first set Sampras 6-4

They made a tv commercial for Nike based on that point later too with Sampras and Agassi hitting balls back and forth until they both have long white beards.

more recently, that point between Hewitt and Gaudio at Masters...Gaudio had Hewitt running everywhere, in for drops, back for lobs, and eventually Hewitt crushes a clean winner down the line after chasing down a lob to the far corner of the court, then high fives someone in the crowd

he said it took him about the next 6 points to get his breath back

A great point that came about entirely because Gaudio played a simple putaway volley with as much enthusiasm as my goldfish would, and tapped it into court so that it sat up for Hewitt to run it down.

ROGER FEDERER: Yeah, I remember this one time when I went on a vacation on the Maldives. That was in the year 2001, I think. I went to this spa. I went to walk around with my girlfriend. I walk in, and we want to book a spa. This guy goes, "AHH, I remember you. You beat Sampras. I saw you on TV." That was like, really, how can you remember me? This guy has probably never been off his island and still knows me. I was a little bit shocked. Then I went to play tennis with him because he was actually the tennis teacher. It was nice.

Q. Were you naked at the time in the spa?

ROGER FEDERER: No. It was at the front desk. I didn't walk in naked.

I gotta say this 45 hit rally involving Hewitt sounds like a doozy. I haven't seen it yet, but should be good stuff! Lleyton is always one of the more reliable players at getting balls back! I'm sure he is up there in some of the more memorable rallies, and will have a long history of them in his career by the time it's over.

Robredo is pretty good himself. That's why they call him "The Magician" in French circles. He can high spin lob out of many dangerous spots and keep himself in the point.
