Agassi charges into Miami round of 16
Miami, FL (Sports Network) - Six-time champion Andre Agassi was an easy third- round winner Monday, while 2004 runner-up Guillermo Coria went by way of the upset at the lucrative NASDAQ-100 Open.

The ninth-seeded Agassi breezed past Frenchman Arnaud Clement 6-2, 6-4 at Crandon Park Tennis Center. The speedy Clement also lost to Agassi in the 2001 Australian Open final.

The 34-year-old Agassi handled Clement in 69 minutes, with the help of 12 aces and four service breaks.

Agassi's fourth-round opponent will be 2004 French Open champion Gaston Gaudio, an easy 6-2, 6-3 victor against 27th-seeded Frenchman Sebastien Grosjean, the 1999 Miami runner-up. The Argentine Gaudio is seeded seventh at this 12-day Masters Series tournament.

The fourth-seeded Coria was ousted by 31st-seeded American Taylor Dent 6-3, 6-4 on Day 6 here. The clay-court specialist Coria, who lost to Gaudio in last year's all-Argentine French Open final, bowed out against American favorite Andy Roddick in last year's Miami championship match.

Another upset occurred when capable German Florian Mayer knocked out 15th- seeded Chilean Fernando Gonzalez 7-6 (7-3), 2-6, 6-3. The hard-hitting Gonzalez captured singles bronze and doubles gold at last year's Olympic Games in Athens. Mayer will meet Dent in the round of 16.

Sixth-seeded Englishman Tim Henman avoided an upset by belting 28th-seeded Argentine Juan Ignacio Chela 6-3, 6-1.

The winner of this $3.45 million event will pocket $533,350.

Q. What kind of match are you expecting with Gaston Gaudio?

ANDRE AGASSI: This isn't going to be easy, you know. He's one of the best one‑handed backhands in the world, moves really well. Amazing accomplishment in Paris last year. He knows how to win big matches. I'll need to make sure I'm executing and playing at least as well as I did today.

Andre, please win this match!

Wow, such a nice performance today. He's hitting the ball very well. Clement never stood a chance (and did himself more injury than good).
