perlas wasted no time!!

Juan Carlos Ferrero has a new coach, Josep Perlas will work with JC, but Ferrero will also working with Antonio Martyinez-Cascales.
Perlas will work with Ferrero's group, that also includes GGLopez
Martinez-Cascales and Ferrero are going to open a hotel near to Equelite, Ferrero's tennis academy and Cascales needs more time to prepare all, so Perlas will help.

i too love JC, but coria will dismantle ferrero next time they play.

It could also be a long-term decision, Mancini thinks that Chela is the better pick for a possible 2nd tie against Croatia and he prefers him to play the 1st tie too?
Maybe Guille doesn't really want to play the 1st tie either and needs a break.

And maybe the rumour about Nalb was true, or no one knows, and Guille thinks it's true. Just one of a great many reasons I'll be cheering for Baghdatis in the SF.

I don´t really think the rumour about Nalbandian is true.

IMO, that sounds logical, considering the situation.

he may have REALLY asked that mancini excuse him...he already spoke directly to the press to say he didnt think he should play. that doesnt mean he thinks chela is a better pick than himself, but he really may feel he cant handle the added pressure right now. (he cant handle the pressure of a 2nd serve, much less the pressure of his country on his shoulders.) i doubt mancini would betray his wishes if guille felt that strong about it. and obviously, no one is going to say anything about it...that is my guess.

Yes, it sounds very plausible to me. He is stressed enough at the moment, imagine if he loses a match in DC, that would be a drama again, they already lost the SF because of him last year...
They don't need him for this tie and he wouldn't have played anyway, except if David or Gastón are injured, it's no big deal – I prefer him to try to sort out his problems without any stress, honestly.

Frana (makes comments in ESPN Latin America and is a ex Argentine Davis Cup player) said that being in the team could be a stressful situation for him and he thinks that Guillermo is probably relieved that he is not part of the team for the first tie.

Your statement amazes and perplexes me. Who on the team that could have played in his place would have won the second singles against Hrbaty? No one else was even willing to do it. Gaudio didn't want to and Puerta retired in the middle of his match. Guille stepped into an impossible situation that no one wanted and this is what he gets for it, his own fan saying the tie was lost because of him. Incredible.

I agree that playing in DC could be a stressful situation for Guille. I think that Gaudio and Nalbandian are the best option for the first first day. However, if the tie is over by Sunday (as it will probably be), Guille could have played in front of his public without any pressure, and this could be benefitial for him.

I just hope you are right and it was Guille who asked Mancini to be out of the team. Otherwise, he will feel that he is been dumped out of the team when he needed more the support of the Argentine public.

I´m almost sure Guillermo FELT it was his fault After all, he was the one who lost the match.

I agree with Lau. Guille must be thinking it was his fault.

I suppose Truc is saying Gaudio would have beaten Beck had he played instead of Guille, but that is far from certain as Beck outplayed Nalb in the doubles and beat Nalb pre-USO. Yes, I am sure Guille felt it was his fault, and statements like those of Truc are part of the reason. Rumours that he is not wanted on the team, regardless of who started them, are another part.

I felt Truc was talking about the fact that it was Guillermo who lost the match and that made Argentina loose the tie. At least that´s what I understood, but, whatever..

IMO, he doesn´t give a s***t about this kind of statements I think that if Coria feels it was his fault is because he judges his performance by hight standards, as most (if not all) pro tennis players.

Yep, and they are rumours. As in any other part of the world, the press here can be shitty , specially now that tennis became a much important sport in Argentina and Arg. players appear in gossip magazines (do you say "gossip magazines" in English? )

Yes, I meant he lost both rubbers in Bratislava, not only the last match against Hrbaty. He was supposed to beat Beck, I don't get the problem with my post.
But let's leave it at that, please!

I agree with you, Julio, but since he made the first move and kind of asked for this with his recent statements to the press, I guess he will be fine with the decision.
I know he would have loved to play in front of his home crowd, but on the other hand, he's very proud, I don't know how he would feel if he was in the team only to play a dead rubber on Sunday.

His problem is to play well under pressure anyway, not in dead rubbers (he obviously played well in Kooyong, for example, Esther saw him in Kooyong and she didn't even notice that he was not serving well, she noticed the problem with his serve for the first time during the match against Hanescu!)
