Default Backhand Help

This might seem like a silly question but I need some advice. Ever since I started playing tennis I've always hit my forehand early. The better I got, the earlier I hit the ball. My backhand is very solid but can't hit it as early as my forehand. Because I'm up close to the baseline hitting my forehand early, my backhand gets caught with no time at all and the timing is totally off. Does that make sense? I end up hitting errors because I don't have enough time to set up my backhand.

How should I go about fixing this? Just practice my timing on the backhand? Practice footwork? Court positioning? All of the above?

Thanks in advance.

Btw. I have a two handed backhand.

Yeah really just requires more practice. Now when you're talking about hitting early, you mean hitting on the rise, correct? If that is the case, more practice, shortening your backswing and adjusting your footwork around the ball are going to be key towards hitting the ball on the rise off the backhand wing. Just watch some videos of players like Agassi, Davydenko and Nalbandian who both hit the ball tremendously well on the rise and have 2 handed backhands. You'll notice the short backswings, open stance and using the pace of the ball.
