Ideally, of course, there would be one Irish team, as in rugby, where religion has never been a factor. But a possible merger of the Irish and Northern Irish Fooball Associations into one body, is way, way over the horizon.
ideally there would be only one irish nation, compromising the entire ireland, named Eire.

Champions League Final 2005 - Used to love football and Liverpool used to be my faves, matches really don't get much better than that. No idea how Liverpool won that.
Canadian GP 2011 - Most entertaining race of all time. I mean there's no logic to it, taking out Hamilton, taking out Alonso, getting a shitload of penalties, getting a puncture and with something like 20 laps remaining being in last place to overtake Vettel on the last lap is fucking unreal, in interchangeable conditions no one even comes close to Jenson.
Button in Canada was boss no doubt. Kimi R at Japan in 2005 was pretty special also.

Again, figure skating, ice dance, Virtue-Moir, Gold. Expected to medal (they had won silver and bronze the last 2 WC), but they could get the gold. And they did. And it was pure magic.

That match was epic.
Another memorable CL final was the 99' one. Bayer Munich was winning 1-0 against Manchester and in the last 2 minutes MU scored to goals.
But I think the best football match I watched was Czech Republic-Netherlands in EURO 2004.
Switzerland this year at the ice hockey championships
Tina Maze and her amazing season, moreover cos everyone expected such an effort from Lindsey Vonn
SFs of UEFA Champions League this year
Bayern Munich this season
Sebastien Loeb - how to end as a king
This one was the most memorable moment for me. It was an amateur team, in the 2007 rugby world championship that scored a try against the powerfull New Zealand. We didn't win a thing but the hapiness of those players with the hard time they had to be there made thia a indescribable moment.
Somw other moments that I will always remember are:
Beloki's crash in the 2003 tour de france
Miki Feher in 2004. The saddest sports moment in my life
Rui Costa's win in the Tour de Suisse last year
Portugal against England in the euro 2004
I'm not paralympic eligible, and obviously it wasn't that awesome, the pace of rally wasn't that good but I was out of the point and dove over and made a wicked smash that clippied the table.
Back on topic, the Leafs losing against Boston in the NHL playoffs this year is memoriable for all the wrong reasons
