Default Who is the most deserving "close but no cigar" player in the history of Wimbledon

Wimbledon, more than any other grand slam, has a rich history of players who years after years were in the mix but each time they came up short on the lawns of SW19.

Ivan Lendl: 2 Finals, 5 Semi Finals

Andy Roddick: 3 Finals, 1 Semi Finals

Tim Henman: 4 Semi Finals

Patrick Rafter: 2 Finals , 1 Semi Final

* I would argue that at first it looks a close call between A-Rod and Lendl, but the 09' excruciating Final clinches it for Andy..If not for Federer who happened to be his worst match-up, Roddick would be multiple Wimby champions. Never in recent memory a player deserved a particular slam than Andy winning Wimbledon

..Obviously, Murray has a chance to enter the discussion if he keeps up falling short..he already has 1 Finals and three Semi Finals appearances..

Lendl for sure.

USTA mug Roddick does not deserve any thing, kept choking to Fed.

Roddick. Could have easily won 4 Wimbledon titles if not for Roger, and at least the 2009 title if he hadn't choked.

I have sneaky feeling that Murray is on track to surpass him in that department if he does not win it this year..Already his 1 time finalists and three semis ..

Ken Rosewall. Reached his 2 Wimbledon finals at 18-20. Could not compete for 11 years of his prime due to pro tour. Reached last two finals at 34 and 39. Still, won 8 other grass slams. Neither Roddick or Lendl won a slam on grass in their prime years.

Easily Roddick. It defined his entire career.

Classy... Federer was just better than Roddick and Roddick had matchup problems. Murray on the other hand has a good matchup against Federer and has a pretty even H2H is from the next generation and has 'choked' all GS finals to Federer while Federer was out of his peak years.

Roddick was far more convincing against his biggest grass opposition (Fed) than Lendl ever was against his (Becker). He made more finals, and came much closer to actually winning.

If that weren't enough, Roddick always had the tools to be successful on the stuff, while Lendl had to play well outside of his comfort zone to stand a chance. He served-and-volleyed on cruise control every time SW19 rolled around and was passed before he could even look up against any of his biggest opposition.

Why are you such a clown of a poster these days?

I voted other. Roscoe Tanner was a terrific grass court player in the 70s who reached two semi finals and one final and was only beaten in those matches by Connors and Borg.
