Let's hope not. This match-up makes me sick. I've had enough of it.

As have I. Just poing out that we obviously can't see the big 4 in the final 4 if we don't get that quarter.

IMO, there is nothing better for hardcore fans than a semi final Friday featuring all of the big 4.

Let's hope it happens next week.
It will depend on the draw and even then I don't see all 4 making the semis. Roger can be upset by Berdych or Tsonga and Dull can be upset almost by anyone in the 1st week like Rosol, Haase, Petszchner, Youzhny, Kendrick.

The Big 4 were completely dominant in 2011/2012 but they were at the top of their games then. Roger is declining, Nadal was injured for Aussie Open, Andy withdrew from RG. Djokovic is the only one to continue the Big 4 dominance. However, Andy and Nadal are now back and will probably join him. Roger too, although not anywhere near as much as he did.

They're still the best players around and will continue winning most of the large tournaments and all of the slams for quite some time.

I think if the QF is like Ferrer/Tsonga & Federer/Berdych
I think Ferrer has much higher chance to be in the SF than Federer

Yes I do want the big 4 in the semis. Everyone is acting like a broken record 'i want new names' but whenever someone makes the SF(or even final like Ferrer did) they are routined by a big4 member.

If someone plays great, sure, but I don't want Berdych to beat Fed and then get smashed or Tsonga to take one out and then lose to Ferrer. Not to mention that I don't want Ferrer doing whatever the hell he does to get to Slam SFs and then getting blown to smithereens. Or what? Wawrinka beating Murray and getting destroyed by/choking to one of his masters? Haas getting tired half way? Isner/Raonic servboting one of them with 90% 1st serve in a borefest and then losing in another serveboting borefest?

I want good tennis in Slam SFs. And I don't want to know who will win the SF 2 days ahead.

Maybe Delpo can do something about it, but I'm not holding my breath on that.

Please, don't be silly. Last four opponents of Ferrer : Murray (he loses), Tipsarevic, Almagro and Robredo. On other hand, Federer had to beat : Youzhny (easy one), Berdych, Tsonga and again Tsonga. Moreover, Ferrer has struggled to defeat Tipsarevic and Almagro. If Fed had Ferrer draws, he would go on SF every time these last 4 Slams.

Moot point. You can only beat what's in front of you

Berdych and Tsonga have a knack for beating Federer in slams.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that if Ferrer and Federer both avoid Nadal in the QF, Ferrer might be more likely to get to the semi than Roger.

I agree with this. The Ferrer SFs are usually ridiculous. There are potentially some decent matchups with some others, but ultimately surprises will come at a premium and dull, one-sided, predictable matches are to be expected. Top-4 in the semis is exciting and we've had any amount of classics over the years. I don't agree that it's dull. If we had one guy winning everything - that would be dull.

This. Especially because I think Wimbledon levels the playing field a lot between all of them, none of them are shoo-ins to beat any of the other 3.

Let's hope Ferrer/Nadal QF and Big 4 in semis. Ferrer won't make QF, relax.

Although I still do not want top 4 semis, you make a good point here. del Potro is the only other player that can be counted upon to raise his game once he gets to the SF stage as opposed to looking like a deer in the headlights - even if he does end up losing, he will make his opponent earn it (see Olympics last year, RG 2009, even WTF last year...). Ferrer's SF efforts vs top 4 are a huge joke, but that goes without saying, Tsonga tends to misfire dramatically after pulling one big win/upset and Berdych is Djokovic's and especially Nadal's turkey. So yeah, in terms of wanting uncertainty and tight matches I understand top 4 semis would be preferrable (or delPo, but he's rarely a factor these days due to his constant health problems).

If the non-top 4 semis were say, Tsonga taking on Federer and Berdych taking on Murray, the outcome of both would not be certain, both matches would be exciting and I'd take that.

uxyzapenje has a point though. The problem is not enough players below the top 4 are good enough competitors. There's guys with talent and ability, and they can play well, but as soon as there's a tricky situation, they fold meekly as their top 4 opponent maintains or increases his intensity and concentration. Unless your name's Rosol. Del Potro is the best competitor by FAR outside the top four, with honourable mentions to Tsonga and the sadly sidelined Soderling. The rest just bend over when it gets to semis and final.

It won't happen. I doubt it. I think Rafa and Roger will meet in the quarters. Wimbledon should have bumped Rafa up to #4. Heck he should be #2 considering his level of play and how much he has won
