How many times did i tell you Janowicz's comments have nothing to do with the fact that i don't like him? I was neutral before Paris, i didn't care too much about his run there, but then seeing how cocky he is (for absolutely no reason) and his antics on court... i'm sorry but there's NOTHING to like about this clown.

Well but i guess i'll have to tell you this everytime in every Janowicz thread untill you'll finally get it

Also let me remind you he lost to Basic last week and last year he beat Bolelli (really?) and Gulbis who wasn't even close to the level he showed against Berdych. So i'm not surprised a single bit by that

What about Tipsarevic? He's had surprising runs before at Wimbly.
He also trashed Dimitrov today

Should we call everyone who made a Wimby R3 a darkhorse??

I'd really love to know how GSMnadal is thinking. He writes a review for RG, where he includes detailed info about 5 players: The top 4 + David Ferrer. So far so good.
Then Ferrer goes on to reach the final, and two weeks later not only is he out of the 'main contenders', but not even a dark horse?

Brilliant

It's Wimbledon, not RG.

Good preview

IMO, you should add Tsonga in the detailed info section though - two SFs in a row surely make him clearly the fifth man to look out for here. Also maybe Cilic in the dark horses, he's not any less likely to make an upset than some of the names there imo.

Does that mean Ferrer's very slim chances of upsetting someone like say, Del GOATro, should be ignored?

Del Potro is also ignored in this list for a reason

delPo was listed among the dark horses. The reason for that is, although the most likely scenario imo is him losing early considering grass ability + current form/recent illness, he has the game to take out any of the top 4 if he plays close to his best tennis, as shown at the Olympics last year. No player will really be comfortable knowing they have to face him as there's always the chance he might put in a great performance.

Ferrer might be a safer bet for a QF I suppose, but he has no chance to take the top 4 even if he plays to the best of his abilities, so he's sort of irrelevant.

Is that right?

And if Ferrer somehow lands outside of Nadal's quarter, who might be the one to stop him?

I think in today's form and on grass Del Po doesn't have bigger chances of upsetting TOP-4 than Ferrer. In other words, he has none, IMO.

A lot of the dark horses are picked on the odds of having a stunning day and causing an upset. The title is going between 4 guys, I think we can all agree on that.

Then you have the ones that can take out one or possibly even two from the big 4. At the bottom you have noticeable players (Rosol) and other players who probably won't do very much, but can definitely beat a few of the bigger names (not top 4, just below that).

I don't see Youzhny, although a fine grasscourter, causing an upset. Same with Ferrer, decent players, probably beat who they'll have to beat. But they lack the weapons that other, lower ranked players DO have that made me pick these players.
I know the Janowicz logic wasn't strong, but he hasn't shown anything on the surface yet, except beating an up-and-down Gulbis after he eliminated Berdych. And I expected more from him this season than we've seen so far. Perhaps I underestimate him.

Youzhny and Ferrer will probably act as "policemen" for the top-4, eliminating potentially troublesome opponents and then folding neatly when finally reaching a top player. They are the sort of players the dark horses will want to avoid, not the favourites.

Berdych or Tsonga would take him out easily. Remember Tsonga's previous match before taking out Federer in 2011 ?

In today's form, del Potro has about 0.5% of beating anyone in the top 8 on grass. However, his game can reach a very high level that allows him to potentially beat anyone: it's unlikely that he will reach it at this Wimbledon, but there's always the possibility as we saw at the Olympics last year where he reached great grass form out of nowhere to claim a medal.

Ferrer, on the other hand, could play the best match of his life and it still wouldn't make a difference, he'd still be routined by the top 4.

Umm...Do you remember Ferrer's last matches with Tsonga and Berdych in the current millennium? You know, the ones that are not yet buried so deep in the history books that the pages need to be cleaned with a fossil brush...
