Re: Gilles Simon
He's had a great tournament.
I've yet to watch him play though so I can't really comment.

Re: Gilles Simon
Gilles has been playing very intelligent tennis from what I am hearing. Mixing it up nicely, playing the right shots at the right time, playing to this opponent's weakness, etc.
Keep going!

Re: Gilles Simon
Can anyone tell me more about Gilles?
Aside from his professional record and basic statistics, I've hardly been able to find out anything about him, and he's quickly becoming one of my favorites. I'd particularly like to know how he got started in tennis and what other interests he has, that sort of thing.
Any little tidbits that you'd like to share?

There is an interview from october 2005 where he talks about himself, but it's in french
: http://www.fft.fr/australie2006/?id=1342
Basically, he says that he started playing tennis at the age of 6. He was not very good in the juniors, because of his height and lack of power. At that time, his favorite player was Chang. He says he is grateful to the french federation cos he was not as good as the players of his generation in the juniors but they trusted him. About his dreams, he says that he would enjoy playing Roddick or Safin on the central of Roland Garros and at least breaking them.
Sorry, but he doesn't talk about any interest aside from tennis.
Other thing: one of his best performance before the AO was to beat Johansson (next opponent) in the first round of the Open of Marseille.

Re: Gilles Simon
Great win for Gilles! I couldn't believe it! It's great.
Now, beat T. Johansson one more time, like last year!!

Re: Gilles Simon
Yeah, all good things must come to an end, unfortunately.
He has a lot to be proud of, though
