--You arrived to Paris in the morning. How do you feel?
I am little tired because my plane was at 6:30 this morning. I had to get up at 3:30am, i had to stop over at Francfort because there wasn't a direct flight until 4:30pm so, I put my luggage to the house. As you see it, the day began rather stongly!
· Therefore this afternoon, the word of the moment is rest.
Completely. i'm back with my family and i will spend some quiet time with them. I am happy to see them because i haven't since the end of Lyon. so i'll put the raquet down for today and as early as tomorrow, i'll start hitting for bercy.
· Yesterday, you won petersbourg against Russian Youzhny, 7-5, 6-4. What represents this first victory of the year?
I am really happy. i played the first final of the year and i didn't spoil it. This wasn't obvious though because youzhny was playing at home. i had 11 000 people against me and despite the mood, i survived. From the viewpoint of the game, I didn't serve too badly. i lost my serve only once, as oppose to in other matches where i lost it several times. Indeed, in this match, i made the difference on the important points.
· Your week in St. pétersbourg couldn't have been better…
Yeah, I have just lived a perfect week. The only galère (?) is that I only had time to myself only in the evenings. i found the time seemed to drag on a bit, but it was worth it! (Laugh)
--You suffered a bad back this week. Is the pain always there?
Yeah, it still hurts. Its nothing to be worried about though, I just feel a littler still. I haven’t made any plans before Wednesday so I can recover as soon as possible. Anyway, it may go in the few days.
And yes. My first match is on Wednesday against the winner of El-Aynaoui/Carlsen. I haven’t looked too far ahead in the draw so I’m taking it match by match. Anyway, I’m happy that I’m playing in front of the French crowd again. To play in front of a home crowd and to defend my title is a huge motivation.
--A word on your opponent
They are two guys who have completely different games. Carlsen is a lefty who is a serve volleyer so El-Aynaoui is a player who hits really hard and is fond of his forehand. I don’t have a preference, but I’ll have to adapt according to who I play.
--Do you know what you are ranked this morning?
Non, what am I?
Wahoo!!! That’s the best of my career!!! That’s great news! (how cute!)
--Yes, that’s great. It is a defeat of l’OM against PSG, 3 to 0. (soccer I’m guessing?)
So…that’s pretty much stupid question!! (laughs) it’s a rotten game and imaginary penalties. But it isn’t serious…they’ll take their revenge next match. Last thing, I’ll await you all at Bercy! Bye
