How?

Murray is more relevant than Federer nowadays and is right up there with Djokovic.

I doubt any young player is at awe with Murray the way youngsters might look up to Fed. It's not about relevance as much as simply how this one person you are facing has helped shape the sport in the last decade. If Murray starts winning more Grand Slams things might change but I still hold victories over Fed as more important even though he might be a little PHUBD.

How? Well, because beating any of them, the three of them all-time greats, means a lot more than beating one-time major winner Andy Murray.

Incidentally, I do not disagree that Murray is currently a better player than Federer.

I see what you mean but I disagree. For these guys beating Murray means a lot. Look at Janowicz's reaction when he beat him or at the chokes from Dimitrov.

That.

Murray is like the Ringo of the Beatles. He's currently the second best player in the world, but in terms of overall stature two of his rivals are legends and the third is on his way to becoming one.

Well, I am happy to eat my words from the other thread. Well done to Dimitrov, who played great tennis. It's just a shame now that the already enormous hype around this guy have expectedly undergone ridiculous levels of inflation after one big win.

Also, I kind of liked the atmosphere out there (Davis Cup-like), but wish it was balanced between the player. To have that type of energy fairly divided in every match (ideal, I know), would be spectacular.

Unlucky? Looks more like a blessing in disguise.

Compare his losses to Djokovic and Murray on slow hards to his recent efforts against Nadal and Djokovic. He's shown great mental improvement in a matter of months.

While some guys are doused with confidence issues and uncertainty from frequent high-level encounters at such a young age (Harrison), others capitalize on them by learning from these opportunities. Dimitrov seems in line with the latter.

Congratulations to Dimitrov and his fans: I see this as a coming of age. A sign of things to come for Grigor. He played excellent tennis and also put up a great battle for over 3 hours against Djoker, not an easy thing to do.

The crowd was awful, as always. I was shocked when they booed much more loudly when Nole crossed himself and thanked the heavens. What do they expect? For everybody to be an atheist like Rafa? Or for everybody to be a catholic like them? What's so wrong about thanking his deities?

Nole was very classy at the net, as always...and his entire team were on their feet applauding Grigor.

Well done, Grigor! Great match, great win.

Ok so honest to god.

Let us all hope this breaks the mental barrier for Dimitrov, much like Murray and US open.
If the mental barrier is down, all that is holding him back is fitness.

Once he gets that together, then.....????

Really hope he doesn't go out in the next round.

Also MTF spoke in the poll and WE were right!! HAHAHA
