It's not to late for Stan, he is in his late 20's and could still have a dream run in his twighlight years. Great for him to win this great for his confidence after his loss to Djoko King.
He may not win a slam. Let's face it. Nole, Nadal, and even Murray are tough to beat. But he really does have the game to beat one of the 3 and if he gets lucky, he can do some damage. His performances against Roger in slams have been abysmal. But I believe in his new coach. This guy may be in the shadow of Roger but has some serious talent. People keep writing him off. I remember Brad Gilbert predicted pain for him when facing Nole in AO. He was talking about breadsticks and things like that. I think Wawrinka showed us he can play even though he did not win. That backhand is what I am in love with

Tennis has no blood passport system, and does basically no out of competition testing.

The methods and drugs used by Armstrong in 1999 would work in tennis right now, with zero chance of being caught (not slightly surprising to anyone familiar with the topic, btw).

Pics's form and overall play are very worrying this season...I think this could be a sign of his permanent decline and aging for a player of his gruelling style of play.

Stan retweeted a couple of tweets like that today. Shows you how stupid it was on behalf of the organizers to mention Roger in the ceremony.

I'm not saying Ferrer would have won had he played better, just that it wouldn't have been a complete blowout. The tendency is to think that only the players you support can have dips in level. Everyone else is just constant all the time, so it all depends on your player. I think that's what we see whenever Ferrer plays. He's a superhuman machine, so can't have good or bad days.
Still lost the 2nd anyway. To his defense, only a few select players are capable of beating peak Stan, but David isn't one of them.

Maybe because Wawrinka was the first swiss winning there since Federer 5 years ago?

Stanislas

Always good to see an aggressive shotmaker with a 1HBH beat an annoying grinding clown, especially after being unrightfully defeated by another earlier in the year.
