Ferrer withdraws from Monte-Carlo with an injury... then follows up with one terrible loss, and one mediocre loss...

I wonder what's wrong with him. Maybe he's just gotten to that age where his footwork is going downhill and it's costing him

If only he hadn't thrown that match point away in Miami... perhaps his season would be looking better right now. I hope that loss doesn't ruin his season.

Sad day for Lenders and Vulture. I think Lenders needs to comfort his man back in their hotel room, maybe Mateya can give Lenders some expert advise on how it's done.

Grats Stan.

Well, obviously Ferru is still not at his best level, but I still think this match has shown a massive improvement compared to all the matches I had seen him play lately.

As for Wawrinka, he played really well and deserved this title.

I still think this is rather reassuring for Ferru. He was not even supposed to come to Portugal in the first place, and it would have been better for him to win the title, but I believe he was right to accept the invitation.
After that awful loss in Barcelona, I hope at least his last two matches gave him a little confidence back, and also a little practice after his injury. We'll see if it gets better in Madrid.

NID, when an elite player plays at a good level, Ferrer has no chance.

Lenders must be crying right now. Poor guy, don't worry the true number 5 will bounce back soon enough.

The Manislas saves tennis yet again, truly one of the few heroes left on the tour.

Tennis lost, so did humanity.

Ferrer had 11 W and 31 UEs, once again proves that Wawrinka can only win matches when the opponents spray errors and play the worst match of their lives - his level has zero effect on the outcome, he's like a ball machine feeding balls to his opponents.

(Good for Wawrinka though, seriously)

Congratulations Stan, well deserved. I hope to see him close to the TOP10 soon, it is almost impossible to dislike his style of play and his shots

Wawrinka is on a mission this clay season to restore order to the top 4.
