at the moment you have to say ferrer is the better player however del potro does have the potential to be the 5th best in the world. i understand why people hate ferrer though he literally has no weapons except hitting the ball side to side and hardly missing, its so frustrating watching del potro loose vs ferrer i mean christ hes crap but he cant be if hes ranked 4th can he? ferrer seems like a nice guy but i can really see him knocking federer out of the top 4 and that would be a travesty so i just hope he retires soon.

When he playing at his best, then yes, I agree. Unfortunately, mate, tennis involves something called consistency. Del Potro can seldom remain consistent throughout a Masters tournament, let alone a Grand Slam. Ferrer, on the other hand, can, even if he does often get demolished by the top three (not including Murray, who is a solid matchup). Exactly like Wawrinka - at his best, I can see he's arguably one of the five most talented players on tour. But like Del Potro, consistency is his problem.

In terms of consistency problems, yes. Also, both at their very best can challenge and even defeat the big four. But there is a small problem in the way. I'll let you guess it.

No, just no. At his best/when he gets a period of decent health, Del Potro can compete with the top 4 on even terms - check his recent match vs Djokovic in IW. He did not blow Djokovic off the court, he simply outplayed and outmanouevered him, Nole actually had more winners. What I mean by this is his usual point construction is enough to hang with those guys given a decent period of good health.

Wawrinka needs to absolutely redline his game to have a chance to beat them and even then often comes up short mentally. Del Potro is miles ahead of Wawrinka, I can't believe this is a discussion. Injured Del Potro is still more of a threat to the top players than Wawrinka any day.

Lol, Lenders' panicing and clutching at straws here and looking absolutely ridiculous in the process. Must be his natural defensive mechanism when presented with facts and logic...

depends what you weight in more.

Ferrer, Berdych and Tsonga are more consistent but can't do shit against the top 4.

Delpo is less consistent but is capable of beating any of the top 4

Doesn't really matter, JMDP is both more consistent and more of a threat to the elite to those three.

All those players mentioned have over him is a (much) better health record and a better absolute peak level in Tsonga's case.

The hole he has dug must be about 50ft deep at the moment.

Lenders is right and Delboy will prove him right when he wins one of the next 7 slams . I am not joking.

Let's hope so, JMDP to save tennis

Even if he doesn't though, it doesn't change anything unless a new GS winner emerges, which is hardly likely, much as Ferrertards would have us believe otherwise.

Yet a decent period of good health for Del Potro is seldom. What is more ludicrous is you openly come out and say he is easily the fifth best player in the world. Sure, I'll agree to that if he, you know, stays consistent. Making the Indian Wells final was exceptional and I thoroughly enjoyed his victories over Murray and Djokovic. Two weeks later, he has an early-round exit at Miami. You just don't know what you'll get from Delpo. With Ferrer, there is an underlying sense of certainty.

A quick calculation tells me JMDP should aim for the same feat as Safin - win the USO and a few years later win the AO. The 2014 AO is obviously his. Vamos .
