Epic troll thread. Great counterattack from Lenders Although you forgot to mention that DP is still carrying the wrist injury and beating top 5 players - meaning he is the true GOAT

Ferrer can have all the wins over DelPo he wants. JMDP has beaten two of the Big 4 consecutively in two different tournaments. Ole Pony

Del Shitro is the only Top 10 player who can lose Kamke and Nieminen back-to-back.

So many children in here confusing "higher peak level" with "better tennis player". Sad to see really.

Del Potro hasn't played a great tournament in 4 years. His fans can keep living in the past if they want, meanwhile today's Del Potro is not ranked #5 for one reason and one reason only: He has not earned it.

If they ever remake Groundhog Day I will suggest Lender's as the starring actor.

Sure, beating Murray and Djokovic back to back and then almost complete the trifecta vs Nadal is not a great tournament. It's decent, but nothing like beating Llodra and Janowicz

Really pisses me off when Monfils beat Verdasco,Murray,Federer but still didn't win the tournament yet Ferrer gets a cake draw.

Sadly no. It'd be better if players like Delpo, Tsonga or even Berdych were the best players in the world, but no, Lenders, you are wrong this time.
Ferrer is the 5th best player, easily, in the last 12 months he won a M1000 and had MP in Miami this year.
Delpo, Tsonga and Berdych reached finals... Good, but not enough.
And let's not talk about slams.

Let's be objective here though. Ferrer beat no top players in those runs, Del Potro beating Djokovic and Murray back to back alone shows a much higher level of player.

He beat Haas, who was definitely playing much better than Murray and Djokovic at IW.

But ok, Del Potro beat Haas 6-1 6-2 in IW right before beating Djokovic and Murray back to back, so hardly a selling point that one.

I'm not selling anything, I'm just saying that one achievement like Delpo's can't be considered as big as all Ferrer has done, because you are just considering Murray's and Djokovic's ranking and no their level of play. Murray had something like 3 consecutive 2R losses prior to this IW, he was crap all tournament. Djokovic was on the verge of losing to Fognini and was being destroyed by Dimitrov until he choked.

Maybe Haas wasn't so great at IW, but he certainly played fantastic tennis in Miami.

If Del Potro had more relevant achievements this year I could understand the thread affirmation, but that's all he's done.
