Do you even lift?

http://cdn.dailychillout.net/wp-cont...ster-Wayne.jpg

I began a few months ago and starting to make progress.

4-6 days a week, today is leg day for example. I remember when I started, I could barely squat the bar + 10 pounds. Now I am squatting the bar + 95 pounds. As for the bench, I started not even on the bar, I started benching with 20 pounds weights in each hand. Now I am up to bar + 40.

Not SO impressive, but the progress I am enjoying. I am not trying to be huge:

I want to be more Bruce Lee, tbh:

We have the MTF Fitness thread, where perhaps this falls in.

I've been working out about 2 years quite actively, with only sporadic periods of going to the gym before that. My goals are both increasing muscle mass and increasing strength and I have different workouts for each of the goals and some muscle groups separately.

Some personal records:
Bench: 105 kg
Deadlift: 140 kg
Box squat: 130 kg
Deep squat: 120 kg
Clean: 80 kg
Clean & jerk: 70 kg
Snatch: 60 kg

When I was a teenager, obsessed with going to the gym and putting on muscle mass, the only record I broke was for the amount of time spent socializing in between sets: "hey how's it goin? Long time no see, lets move out of the way..."

Now, I don't think its so cool to carry around unnecessary kilograms of muscle mass for no reason so I'm happy doing cross training (combining basic resistance training with cardio--no stopping) works 4 me. Keeps my muscles firm, and the potbelly off.

The rite of passage from boy to man (and its obsessions with size) is kinda funny when you look back at it though. Unless you're an athlete who needs that size, bulk, and power, I'd say forget about trying to be "big." My humble opinion. The difference between 17 and 19 inch biceps will not help you with chicks at all. I fell for it so who am I too judge. Just let it go grasshopper.

Arnold looks like a shar pei dog now that he's north of 60. That's the price for being an animal when you're young.

Thanks for replying my thread, guys!I'm heading to the gym in a few minutes, lol.I train full body every 2nd day.
Unlike the other chicks my primary goal was and still is becoming stronger.Maybe due to the fact I was a very small and weak teenage girl...When I started 7 months ago I was doing 10kg squats and 5kg db presses and crying. Also realized that my nutrition was really bad just like almost anyone else's I know.
I didn't know there was a Fitness thread, maybe mods will merge them.
The bad thing about lifting in general is that young persons do it mainly for the aesthetic look. They put themselves an unrealistic goal like now the zyzz trend (whom I have less than zero respect for).In my gym boys aged 16-17 lifting for less than year started recently talking obsessively about steroids, can you imagine? Also girls basically doing nothing but cardio and 2kg curls are on 2-3 types of fatburners and stuff.
brb training on Sunday morning,sacrifice2win crew

Yes. It's really tough getting into weights when we're not used to them. We're using muscles we never even knew existed

It looks like you're setting some excellent goals too. The most liberating state of mind for me, in regards to exercise, is when I focus on the health benefits and how great my body feels when lifting weights (cross training), doing pilates, and stretching. Add to that all of the fun sports: hiking, basketball, tennis, sking etc. Excercise for me is about enjoying the moment, instead of being obsessed with what I may look like a year from now.

Looking better is a positive bonus but my secondary motivation. Hard to stay motivated when we have unrealistic body goals (have to get the perfect body) because of the stress involved, and that stress and disappointment causes people to give up eventually. Exercise should be fun, and it should be for a lifetime! People in Scandanavia cross country ski well into their old age, and look and feel 25 years younger because they love it! You're a smart girl Ivelina, and I know you won't fall into the trap that many young people fall into. Those boys you mentioned think they are immortal and shrug off the fact that lance armstrong had brain and testicular cancer from the juice. So sad.

Good luck!

Steroids are bad, mmkay?

Still, Zyzz is a legend. An inspiration for millions around the world. Not to do steroids, but to push yourself to your limit and then further.

He's a "legend" alright but not in a good sense. He inspired taking roids while working out and brag about it online

And yeah, steroids are bad, mmkay?

Though to be fair, they've probably been demonized slightly.
