You know, I lived in USSR and I live in Russia. We had to go through mass privatisation, dissolving the unions, the miners crisis, etc. And we could only dream of tackling all the problems as efficiently as Thatcher did.

I can't comment on non social-economic issues but I read quite a lot about Hillsborough and I don't see how one can conclude Thatcher tried to 'cover up' the tragedy.

And she hated communism (rightfully so) hence her remakrs on Mandela and staunch support for Pinochet.
So you think a murderous brutal dictator like Pinochet deserved support and a hero like Mandela was a communist?

Thatcher and her boot boys smeared the Hillsborough dead and blamed them for her boot boys' incompetence. A complete and utter cover-up. It was only Liverpool though, only Merseyside she destroyed. If it had been Londoners involved her attitude might have differed.

Thatcherism and it's 'divide and rule' policies turned the whole country against each other and into a class war of rich telling the middle class to blame the poor.

As for money for those that earn it what about those who need welfare, like the disabled, or those with a serious illness, or those scraping at the bottom of the barrel, you see right-wingers like yourself are all the same, you peddle a myth that only those who 'work hard' deserve money, when so many people wanted to work hard and couldn't because she put the unemployment levels up to a massive scale with her privatisation. Unemployment was at a record scale under her premiership especially in the northern working class cities

As for the USSR/Russia, I don't care. I'm not as qualified to judge the performance of Putin, Yeltsin, Gorbachev as you are, the same way you have no business patronising someone like me whose community was destroyed by Thatcher's policies when you're watching from way afar.

It explains why you hate them perhaps, but death is not a victory over them.

I never intended to patronise anyone.
I'm only guilty of not reading your other posts in this thread before replying to you. Had I done it I would've never dragged myself into discussion with someone like you. Keep living in your marxist world and blaming everyone else for your shortcomings.

You see, what you're doing in the last line, that's the exact kind of thing she did, she turned people against each other and was victorious by doing so. The left and the right have never been more at war under two governments- her premiership and now the coalition we're run by now who are basically her proteges.

Thatcher hated Merseyside. She hated Liverpool. She saw it as dirt that needed to be trampled on. She did that and more. Ergo we despise her.

96 families will sleep easy tonight.

She hated on Maiden? Why? Politics or the music? Bruce does have a big mouth. I always thought of her as a closet thrash metal headbanger.

It's always a stroke of genius whenever a Machiavellian politician is able to cloak divisive malevolence through legislation, in the name of democracy. Politics takes a special breed indeed.

Apparently she was removing Iron Maiden posters from the streets, that's why in the Maiden album cover I posted Eddie is killing her.

Like all politicians she had her good points and her bad ones, but oo rational person could deny that Thatcher was good for the UK other than those too young to remember what things were like under Wilson. She did what was necessary to resurrect the country and transform the UK back into a world economic power - and people hated her for it.

It is fashionable to blame Thatcher for the current problems with unemployment and the welfare class, but the country would be in a far bigger mess today if the government had continued to prop up worthless industries run by militant unions.

Oh, and LMFAO at all the butthurt Argies venting their spleens. Still ashamed of your inept military getting their arse handed to them 30 years ago I see. Don't blame you, it was pretty embarrassing.

There were some corrupt goings-on in the trade unions before she came in but she went way too far, way too far. It's like surface homogenisation in the ATP- completely doing the opposite instead of finding a middle ground.

People in the north will not be shading any tears. She truly was hated up there. A lot of her policies still haunt us today. RIP though.

She came into office with the UK as the sick man of Europe, and left it as one of the world's great economic powers.

The way she did it was tough, uncompromising and upset many people. So what?

She left mass communities here absolutely decimated. As for her economic policies, the power she gave to the banks and bankers, ultimately caused three recessions since she left power.

The communities were based on moribund, unsustainable industries that had to be eliminated. The whole country was tottering under the weight of them, and it was dragging the entire economy down the tubes.

Her economic policies were what was necessary at the time. They dragged Britain out of the dark ages and put the country back on the top of the world. To blame her for the GFC almost 30 years later is just abject silliness and demonstrates an utter inability to discuss the topic rationally.
