Default Peak Murray

When do y'all think Murray was at his best? Pick a single tournament or a single match (as long as it was a reasonably important time). I really don't know what I would choose.

US Open 2012 R4 vs Raonic

One of the best performance I've ever seen by any player.

I've honestly never seen a match where Murray was playing peak like tennis. At least I hope that wasn't his peak level.

I know this is very specific, but the last two sets of the 2011 Tokyo final were outrageous.

NID that the haters are already out in force in this thread spouting crap about wind etc.

Olympics was the best Murray has played for a whole tournament.
I believe that only peak Federer can better peak Murray. Andy at his best is unbeatable.

Nadal at USO 08 and Tokyo 11. First two sets of AO 2010 also.
Raonic at USO 12.
The whole Olympic run
Tsonga at Wimby 12
Toronto 2010, against Nalbandian, Nadal and Federer he played superbly in all of them.

An honourable mention to AO 07 4th round against Nadal, that was the first time I honestly thought- going to the very top. Also Djokovic at the AO 2012 semis despite losing he was outstanding for long periods and was highly unfortunate not to win it, was a point from serving for it.

Having seen 95% of his matches since his debut v Hernych in Barcelona 05 I feel qualified enough to judge.

Regarding the 2012 USO although his actual tennis wasn't peak level his mental strength in that tournament was absolutely insane- Murray is underrated mentally and in four of the last five matches he showed a ridiculous level of clutch on big points with the ability to take the initiative, especially in the tiebreaks- he saved set points with aces and some ballsy play.

Not necessarily peak but I thought his defeat against Djokovic in the 2012 Aussie Open SF was a fantastic match where he had much to be proud of.

Toronto 2010. Not just Federer and Nadal, but Malisse and Nalby were red-hot at the time also.

Of course Tokyo 2011 final was insanely good in the third set, couldn't miss, just an avalanche of winners .....but every player has that occasionally, even amateurs. Ditto Roddick at Queens 2011, although Murray has the matchup advantage there, he basically couldn't lose - which brings its own confidence. "Keep it social!"

When you produce it through an entire tournament, and straight set Nadal and Federer to end it, that's your peak - that was Toronto 2010. Of course, this being Murray, there had to be a brainfart even amongst the perfect event: while smashing Monfils (who was playing well at the time!), Murray ate a bagel in the middle set.
