Now that the 2013 French Open is over, I thought I would share with you my predictions for the FO results 10 years from now (a long shot, I know). Here's what I anticipate as a news release for the 2023 French Open Men's Final:
NADAL WINS RECORD 18TH FRENCH CROWN IN 5-SET EPIC
The 37 year-old Spaniard, ranked 194th in the world, overcame a spirited challenge from Serbian world no.1 Zoran Dobric to win 6-4, 5-7, 6-3, 6-7, 9-7, after saving 5 match points. He thereby extends his total number of Grand Slam victories to 22 (including 18 French Open titles) and his number of consecutive victories in Paris to 14 - both all-time records.
"It is an unbelievable feeling to win here again", said Nadal afterwards. "Every victory here is special to me. To win here 18 times is unbelievable, no? I want to congratulate Zoran for playing an unbelievable match, and I also thank my team and the sponsors, Kia, the ballboys, the tournament organisers, the President of the French Tennis Federation, the chauffeur who drove me to the venue, the pilot of the plane I took to Paris, the stewardesses and the person who invented the aeroplane - thank you very much everybody."
Of course this is not a serious prediction - though, who knows?
I hope Djoko will prove it wrong next year already by winning the French, though I tend to be sth of a pessimist and fear that his golden opportunity may have gone this year... I still feel gutted from Friday's semi, one of the most thrilling matches I've ever seen but also one of the most painful to watch given who I was supporting.
(No criticism intended towards Nadal, obviously you can't blame him for winning matches.)
Hugs to all other Djoker fans
