Phau with a stupid loss yesterday against Capdeville, so he probably missed the chance to play all 4 GS main draws. But he needs only 1 or 2 withdrawals.

Thumbs up Re: Björn Phau?

Hi. Nice to meet you.
I'm a member of Bjorn fan since two years ago.
Excuse me for my English. I am Japanese men, so my English is terrible.

I didn't realise there is thread about Bjorn.
Fortunately Bjorn and I have been excahnging e-mail since last year.
According his last mail. althoug he lost in the last round, he still had a chance for lucky loser.
And thanks to Marat?,his wish came true yesterday.
So we hope he could enjoy US open.

By the way, when I met up him at Tokyo tournament, he told me about his tennis goal.
He said, his aim was to reach top 120 and to stay healthy hiswhole carrer as well.
We know he ranked top 100 in this year.So he achived his goal, also he took part GS 4 tournament in a row. Brilliant!!

Anyway I'm glad he had a chance for LL.

Thanks for thenews about his goal... His match against Popp will be interesting, probably a tight 4 setter or even 5 sets. I like Popp too but I hope Björn can win this.

Phau d. Popp 6-1 6-3 6-3

What a result!

Next opponent is Jarkko. Phau shocked Jarkko once, when he defeated him in Finland, but Jarkko won their last match easily.

At AIG Japan tournament, he survived first round.6-7,6-4,7-6.
He said me his play was terrible. Exactly he had some careless shots, and his first serve was a bit terrible as well.
But he beat up Stefan anyway!!

hi.
just reporting today's his game.
6-4,7-5 He beat a seed player up.His service is still trouble though.
But he had a lot of service ace today. It was briliant!!
And his back hand stroke is resurrecting. He had some nice shots.

He never miss the chance this time. Especially in the 2nd set 5-5, he was hang in there.
After his match,he told me the 11th game was a key of today's victory.
Anyroad he made it!!

Phau repeats his quarterfinal from last year with an impressive 6-1 6-2 win over Kenneth Carlsen.

Bjorn is a great player.Today's coat is a practice court #8. So Carlsen complaned about that against a chair umpire.
Obviously Carlsen was irritating before the start of the game. On the other hand Bjorn kept his concentration.
And due to some were walking freely around their court,Carlsen was unable to keep his concentration. It looks terrible. Then he sometimes stop playing.
He had been very nervous whole their match.
However Bjorn was different. He always concentrate all game.
Also his service was pretty good and back hand shots were very very nice as well.
Bjorn was perfect today's match.

Phau d. Ginepri 6-4 6-3

Unbelievable! Probably his biggest success. 110 points for him and it's still not over. I think if he makes the final, he will become the 3rd best German player in the ranking!
