Justin has hurt his back and withdrawn from the Waikoloa Challenger. He could be out for a while. Dammit, just when he was doing so well. My poor banana nut muffin...

I've never posted here but I will now since I saw him play today!

I play in clinics every Saturday at a tennis club in New Jersey called Center Court where Justin Gimelstob also trains. I've never seen him or any other professional there, but today I got to see him and Jim Courier hit. I have nothing much more to say except it looked like he was hitting pretty well. They also played music while they were practicing which I found interesting.

I wish I had my camera with me to show you all pictures but then again I never expected to see him there.

Just a pointless little update for you all!

Well, you may not see him again for a while. He needs to get his toukas over to Tallahassee for the Challenger there this week. Hopefully he will play better there than he did in the IW qualies.

Justin Gimelstob def. Nicolás Massú 6-3, 4-6, 7-6(5), 7-6(0) in the 2nd round at Wimbledon. He will probably play Hewitt in the 3rd round. He's also playing doubles with Brian MacPhie at W. and they will play their first match on Thursday I suppose.

Their match should be Friday, not tomorrow

Pretty gutsy effort from Justin, esp in that last set TB. nice of ESPN to show some of the match to us, too.

I see. I use the default of 15 posts per page, so that pic is elswhere (and the ads on the side squash the board down even more, yay).

I was hoping that they would pull Justin into the studio for a laugh, but I guess he had to ice his chest (and his back, and his legs, etc, etc, etc...).

I watched his third set today. He played well from what I saw. Passionate, unbelievably animated (LMFAO!) and it's a shame he lost to that guy who plays for australia :vomit:. I was actually impressed by him(wtf is up with that serve?!), and found him oddly...attractive Pretty eyes or something. I don't know. Anyway, here's something I read which is a very, very nice quote

Quote:
Gimelstob is one of the more outspoken players on the men's tour. He's quick to voice his opinion even when watching a match from the stands — as he did Tuesday when three fans were complaining about England's Tim Henman as he struggled.

"I finally snapped and I just said to these guys, 'I just want you to know, you guys are the biggest idiots I've ever come across in my life,'" Gimelstob said. "You guys have an unbelievable ambassador to England, he conducts himself unbelievably well, he deals with pressure — the pressure you guys put on him in this country — as well as anyone can handle.'

"Maybe he won't ever win Wimbledon, but since when is the barometer of success or failure being the absolute greatest at something?"

Hey Kristin,
Yes, Justin is oddly attractive in a way and it is because of his eyes. When Justin gives you a real, spontaneous, genuine smile, his eyes almost 'laugh' if that makes sense. I love that quote you found, where is it from? Were there more?

Anyway, even though he lost to Lleyton, I am SO pleased for Justin. He worked as hards as he could under the circumstances, and he even looked like he was having fun out there at times. ESPN had him in the studio and he was very nice and looked like he blushed a few times. Thankfully, he did say that he is taking a week off and will not play in the Forest Hills Challenger next week so he can rest all those aches and pains of his. I hope that means he will stay in London with Corina and enjoy himself for a few days.
