nothing interesting to say, Just wanted to "LOL!" at you and your last minute decisions Completely understandable though. I've just emailled the Sydney people again about their lists. *This time for qualifying info!* Good luck at getting info

kristen have you been emailing the img email address? i hate it when a tournament gets an agent to answer your questions. you never know how much they are forwarding on. on the other hand, it's strange that someone (like me) living in sydney can't just call or even pop into homebush to demand an answer, if i want it so badly! lol
qualifying is always a mystery... anyway i truly am popping into homebush next weekend for the volunteer training, so i'll see whatever i can get out of them.
aaah kat, you still haven't swapped the sydney ticket for auckland yet?

Re: anyone going or have been to Auckland before?
I went once. But it was quite a while back. Wasn't so much into tennis then, went along cos dad's work had seats and everything. It was nice.
But I would come with you again this year Kat if I could get the time off work. Would be nice to go home again, even though Auckland is a bit hmmm. I tend to miss it from time to time. *lol*

Re: anyone going or have been to Auckland before?
Qualifying sign in is 9 pm Friday night. All depends on who can make it there by that time. There are only two tournaments that week, so qualifying could be just as competitive as the main draw. Only a few tournaments (other than slams) require qualifying sign-in in advance.

Re: anyone going or have been to Auckland before?
thank you fee! i reckon they run the same system for all (most) atp tournaments otherwise those poor qualifiers won't know what to expect.
do you think players will try to speculate (spy?) on who's going to which qualie so as to avoid too much competition? and give themselves the best chances?
kat... lol auckland isn't so foreign (only another state in aus, hehe)
liz... you are from nz ??

Re: anyone going or have been to Auckland before?
Something like that Via. The ATP has an in-house website that the players have access to that shows the entry lists for all the tournaments, including Challengers. They can see who has entered, who has had to withdraw, and whatnot. You never really know who is going to be in qualies until you show up on site and sign in, but it gives you some idea when you see the alternate lists. At this point, I have no idea which of these two tournaments JMG will try to qualify for. He may not decide until the week before, or he could just take the week off. Hard to say at this point.

Re: anyone going or have been to Auckland before?
Yeah Fee you're right about the in-house website. Jim showed me it in Bolton, as we were discussing his ranking, and I mentioned seeing it on the ATP website: something he had no idea what it was... He explained they have their own site they use.
Understandably, not as visually attractive as the ATP's commercial site Now who gets the star treatment... us fans (deservedly!)

Re: anyone going or have been to Auckland before?
thanks... i actually know a little about that 'in-house' website, although i've never seen it. it's called an intranet and the atp introduced it to the players in 2000. before that, they had to call the players/families/agents to inform them of a lot of things. after they rolled out the intranet, the onus is on the players to check things out for themselves. i guess signing up to tournaments is one of those things...
yes the public site has a lot of bells and whistles... but, where are the entry lists?? lol

My guess is they will never publish them. The WTA has decided to not give out entry lists anymore at all
