Default Re: John Isner / Milos Raonic

Of course the pros are unanimous in saying Isner (there was another video where like 6 players were asked and all said Isner), he has a case for having the best serve of all-time all things considered (not best first serve, that's Karlovic). He has beaten the top players and taken Nadal to 5 on clay basically with that one stroke alone. Raonic has perhaps a case for being the better serve on a fast hardcourt, all other surfaces clear advantage Isner - especially on clay, where his serve just defies belief.

Default Re: John Isner / Milos Raonic

1st Serve: Raonic, Highest winning percentage of service games says it all.
2nd Serve: Isner, That second serve kicker is monstrous.
Forehand: Isner, Isner is able to hit topspin forehand too (on clay) although Raonic's is more reliable Isner's more efficient.
Backhand: Raonic, much more reliable and about the same amount of 'shotmaking' abilities as Isner.
Volley: Raonic, Less mechanic and Isner only makes the sitters. I've seen Raonic pull out some difficult volleys.
Endurance: Isner, Raonic still has to prove it but winning the longest match in history says enough.
Footwork: Raonic, Isner is more mechanical and perhaps his movement is best described as a hybrid between Karlovic and Raonic.
Power: Isner, For now Isner has more power since he is in the prime of is fitness. Raonic is young and his peak power lays higher than Isner's.
Overall better player: Raonic, Raonic is in almost everything a little more complete. Isner just has a little more firepower in some departments.

Default Re: John Isner / Milos Raonic

In my opinion, you're missing the most important category for comparing these two: Return of serve.

Isner has a severe liability there that caps his potential.

Raonic is still inconsistent, and not great, but improving his return.

When Isner beat Raonic , in the one H2H I can recall, it was largely because of Isner's bigger, more consistent forehand.

Agree Raonic has more upside, and is certainly more fun to watch.

They are wrong though. Every pro asked about the best server said Isner, it's not particularly close, Isner has a good case for being the best server tennis has ever seen - he definitely is on clay and slow high bouncing hard courts by a huge distance.

Raonic is for class better. Take the height out of Isner and you will get a simple mug.

Every pro in the video you watched

Not saying he doesn't but you said what 6 pros all said Isner? Maybe the top 100 were all asked and they only showed the 6 that said Isner because they had an Isner bias. Maybe 94 said Raonic

Don't believe everything you see
