Okay so I was counting on Liverpool's great goal difference in case we ended up leveled with Chelsea, and now that's gone.
Thanks Arsene.

Wenger is a classic case of someone who has overstayed his welcome and has simply nothing to offer to a football team anymore..Truth is failure has become the new normal for the Gunners long ago that this has turned into a comically deluded "continuity" plan with him...

Almost all of Europe Elite clubs underwent droughts and down cycles (Bayern, Barca, Milan, Real)but it often never goes beyond 3 of 4 years-- Arsenal's is now spanning a decade, and the folly is deeming Arsene untouchable while his cachet was never that of a historic reign (singular 2004 excluded)built on his watch prior to the current perduring travails.

Is it me or Bayern seems to have peaked too early?

Hope they repeat as CL Champion, for once, but kind of with signs of toiling sterility creeping in..

Of the four you mention, Milan have only won the league once since 2004 and the other three are far wealthier than Arsenal without as much debth in domestic competition.

Milan won CL 2007,RU 2005, and Serie A 2011, so 4 year stands , even with Berlusconi mailing it in and the Calcio Poli to boot..

Arsenal has got basically only United from 2008 on to deal with, and the later were hardly splurging a la Barca/Bayern/Madrid..Results: pathetic empty-handedness and mental midgerty seared into the group psyche for a decade..

I know but Arsenal reached the final in 2006 so it's very fine margins that go beyond simply the responsibility of the manager. Actually the reason I didn't mention the Champions League was because you said a decade so I assumed you were skipping over the FA Cup in 2005 and were referring to solely domestic leagues - not that I'm saying an FA Cup equals the Champions League, I'm just saying that it's very thin margins which decide cup competitions.

Regarding this, Arsenal are not as rich as Chelsea, United or Man City so I believe comparing Arsenal to Bayern, Real and Barca goes a bit too far. They are not historically as successful, financially as strong or globally as big.

The reason Arsenal fans have such high expectations is because Wenger propelled them to the top of the game domestically and to an extent in Europe, and in this era of super-clubs Arsenal have been near the top - but to slip from that point fits in with their history. They are a great club but are not as big as the above three, nor as big as Milan or Juventus, so I believe the comparison is somewhat flawed.

Now I'm sure it's hugely frustrating to be an Arsenal fan, especially with results like today and the lack of even domestic cups, and I am genuinely interested to know whether a top-four finish and the FA Cup would be considered a successful season?

But I genuinely believe that expecting Arsenal to win the league in any given season is quite unrealistic given the financial clout of their opponents, and the same goes for continental competition.

Not saying Arsenal have the financial muscle as the above team, neither do Juventus follow in those money dopers path btw, but the situation there has been crying for a sea change for a while now..There are degrees of losing in sport; what Arsenal has been doing is just the worst type of annual unraveling...Unless they are happy with it well that is a different story..
